I/we always hate to see ANYONE banned, but there are rules which must be obeyed. Site bans are not taken lightly, not done capriciously, and never done by one staffer only. They are ALL reviewed by at least one sr. staffer, and most often by all three of us (EdAvilaSr, Striker, myself). Our default position is to find a reason to keep the member, but the ultimate decision lies with the staffer who locked him. They can be overruled (only by EdAvilaSr), but that is very rare, as the staff knows the protocols, and are very scrupulous in the actions taken. O'rly?! Interesting.... And Smiley (unintentionally, Im sure) left out a couple key words for the real reason my name is in the OP. So alls Ill say is I like the site, and asked Stryker nicely to allow me back in, and he was very gracious about doing it. But, hmmm. You're name isn't in the OP... Jerk... Did VacaDuck post specific information, or did he simply reference an event (the hypothetical existence of a thread)? As far as I've seen, VacaDuck didn't go so far as to mention the names of specific members who may, or may not, have posted in that thread, whereas J-in-a SPECIFICALLY named posters who may have said something about him behind closed doors. Let's face it, VacaDuck did less than J-in-a, yet his transgression appears to have been met with much harsher consequences. If J-in-a's actions are worthy of only a temporary lock, then VacaDuck's aren't worthy of a ban. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

So why weren't the memebers who posted info that was in the lifer or mil forums not banned? Riddle me that. Why is there a special thin blue line ban hammer?[/quote ] I'm not aware of anything like that. Do you have a link? Offhand I'm not even sure if those forums have a rule of that type. I know even Team has a REQUEST to not carry "team stuff" outside, but it's not an enforceable rule. I had no hand in setting up the .mil forum, and don't recall EVER being in there, so I know nothing of its rules. Having been unable to serve, I'm not even authorized to approve members' access to the forum, though I do have the button to do so. The Lifer forum I do pop in somewhat regularly, but only to see if there's anything I can do to help the Life members. I feel like an interloper there, so I don't participate in threads, even though I've been invited by several. I just don't feel right, so I don't. I'm not sure if that forum has an absolute RULE either. I'll go check--BRB. Edit: I can't find ANYTHING about keeping stuff in the Life Member forum, so I guess it's just a tacit agreement amongst everyone in there. Perhaps you are aware of something I couldn't find. The .mil forum does have a rule. I'm not aware of any leaks from there, so I can't comment, as I had nothing to do with any past events. I just don't know anything beyond your post. Here you go: John-in-austin Quoted: how about an opology for the Douchebag comment in the .mil forum? Maybe nick will apologise for the Choade remark? He was temp locked for that. Not banned because it was determined he referenced an event, but didn't post specific information. Call made by EdAvilaSr himself. Yes, there is a rule on Mil side that says talking about stuff outside of their will get your account locked. And I bet people talk shit about non-mil people in there. You know us tax payers pay the mil salary, RIGHT? If this is true, then I'll never renew my membership. I have not hung out in the mil forum, but if I did talk shit about anyone, it would be tankers and the Air Farce. You should come by. What do you know about CAS? I remember an A10 doing a u-turn overhead in 1988 and being glad they were on our side. Mind you our primary mission was REFORGER. (we had M16A1's, M60's and M1911's and Ronald Wilson Reagan as CIC) ETS'ed from active in Oct 89 as a PV4. I also remember the AF requiring a 4 year enlistment for the same college money as the Army would give you for 2 years back in 1987. We also did not run with reflective belts. They shut down the road we ran on so it really wasn't needed. ....Stay off my lawn. |

Do you believe Signal25 was morally and ethically correct by bringing the LEO list to light? As a reminder, Goatboy said just as much in his post, that Signal25 was, I believe the term used, "justified." View Quote A few points. 1. I thought there was no list, that it was just a discussion? 2. I dispute that Signal "brought it to light" as he never mentioned the LEO forum, he merely said he was going to be put on a list. If he hadn't been banned then I very much doubt if the existence of such a list would have ever come to light. 3. The .mil and LEO forums are apples and oranges as .mil do not have official capacity to harm US citizens (outside of other .mil members) while LEO do. 4. I support confidentiality, I also support whistleblowing. RebelGrey selling secrets to terrorists because he wanted money or hated America or whatever was an act of treason, and I support harsh punishment for that. The various folks who have leaked documents about the illegal activity of the fed.gov re things like Fast and Furious or the NSA or the IRS etc were breaking secrecy in order to expose crimes or morally objectionable actions and as such are in a different category. I don't know what was on the list. Based on the reaction to it and who was keeping it I tend to think that what he did was justified whistleblowing. |
