Any one here designed and built their own ham radio go box ?
Looking to design and build one myself but am not really sure what all would be needed. Starting off by putting down what I would like in a Word file and will go from there. Just not sure how to go about picking the proper parts and designing the wiring to accomplish what is needed. Already have the radio, batteries, tuner and Signalink. Probably end up using a gator 4u rack case for the box. |

I tried wading through that one about a month ago. Quite a few dead links and missing pictures. |

Maybe the image links got mangled when the thread got archived.
Perhaps call this to GoatBoy's attention? It would be a shame for all those archived threads to become useless... Edit: Maybe we could get the new board software to disable archiving on any thread linked in a sticky? |

Maybe we could get the new board software to disable archiving on any thread linked in a sticky? the thread is not archived. new posts can still be added, old posts can still be edited. that said, OP is apparently upset because a 5 year old thread doesn't have all the links/pictures it originally had. OP thinks that thread should be like the library of congress, kept spotless and perfect -- despite content hosters going away, despite content hosters banning ARFCOM referrals, and so on (i'm talking to you comcast, imgur, etc) OP uses the term "wading" as if he was asked to swim through a cesspool, despite the good intentions and organizational efforts of many in that thread. OP please post your EMCOMM box build in that thread when you are done. ar-jedi ETA i randomly clicked on three threads linked in the referenced thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/676391_My_beginner_EMCOM_box_build__2m_for_now__with_parts_list_.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/628168_EmComm_GoBox__version_27.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/675680_My_plan_came_together.html they all have working pictures. they all are excellent starting points for a design of your own liking. they all are replete with technical input from others in the forum. |

OP isn't mad about anything and responder appears to be assuming what someone means over the internet instead of taking the time to get clarification.
But hey, thanks for your input. Learned a great deal here per usual... Quoted:

Not exactly a go box, but it is my EMCOMM kit, all bands, all modes 5-50W (ok, so 50W isn't QRP, but its there if I need it). I've updated the Z817 to elecraft T1 to save space and a bit of weight as well.

Several of the threads linked to within the "master thread" (which is stickied, IIRC) are archived. That is what I'm talking about. |
