The Broadcastify & Tunein links I would expect to have lots of active listeners, starting this weekend.

For those going, don't forget to include EMS, public works and other logistics support entities for this. Hired help (fence installers etc) may use FRS/GMRS/MURS of course the FRS/MURS and even CB will be a mess on Monday. Expect agent provocateurs to be airing anything.

News channels too are interesting. Be ready to be in the area when they are setting up live shots for morning, lunch and evening news.

Do NOT rely on ARFcom or any other site being available if things get exciting on Monday (I'm betting they won't )

Figure out what stuff on your phone you NEED and store it locally.

Keep a printed map of the downtown Richmond area with you. Same for important phone numbers. If you have a separate GPS, charge it and bring it.

If you haven't left home yet, photocopy EVERYTHING in your wallet. Helps a bunch if it gets lost or pickpocketed. Leave with a family member at home next to the phone.

Gas up your car on the way in to Richmond:

Use the GasBuddy app

If you're driving any distance, get your oil changed before leaving. Check all the fluids. Check tires.

Clean out everything you do NOT need from your vehicle. Especially your trunk and underneath the car seats. Glove box and center console too. Police your brass.

Do a walkaround of all your cars lights.

Make sure your license, registration & insurance are up to date and easily accessible. Keep copies handy. Virginia is apparently a very speed limit conscious state. Leave early.

CCW current? Have a copy?

Have some cash squirreled away. Couple three hundred is a start. Have change handy.

Cellphone cables, chargers, power banks.

Cameras, memory, batteries.

Keep a case of Gatorade or something in the car. If you get stuck in traffic you can hydrate and use the bottles as piss jigs. Carry TP in the car, extra underwear, socks, jeans and shoes. Maybe Imodium.

You never know...

Prison wallet.

I wouldn't have a fat wallet jammed with ones and fives. Maybe a couple 50's or C-notes folded under the cards. Depends on the wallet.

What do you world travelers recommend?

Everyone please feel free to add other info. The discussion threads move too fast and pure reference material gets buried.

More stuff:

If you have Prescription meds make sure you have enough for a week. I don't foresee any issues with leaving Monday night, BUT trying to get Rx refilled out of town or out of state can be a PITA. Especially if they are scheduled stuff like pain killers.

Don't mix Rx meds in a single bottle. Have all meds in their official bottles from the pharmacy. Keep excess pills at home. Rearrange everything when you get back home.

Have the basic travel oopsie stuff: imodium, pepto bismol, aspirin, tylenol, bandaids, kleenex, gauze, tape, etc.

Is your health insurance current and are your health insurance cards current?

Most companies can let you print out duplicate temporary cards for insurance.

If you're old AF like me, you probably wear glasses, at least to read tiny print that millennials like to torment us with. Bring extra cheap reading glasses. If they're scratched a bit doesn't matter. Nobody wants to be chasing around to find stuff on MLK day.

Make sure you shower, wear clean clothes, brush your tooth and use mouthwash. We've all been to gunshows and been stuck in close quarters with someone who forgot to do the above that day. Don't be that guy. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CARPOOLING.

Have lots of "cough drops" or other stuff you can give people who "forgot their toothbrush"

Your feet aren't daisies either. Change your socks and pitch or burn the old ones. Or they may just get up and walk away on their own.

Bring sunglasses. The bigger the better. Cataract shades are ideal. The bridge of the nose is a key area for face recognition programs. Big shades, a hat, a beard and anything asymmetrical on your face degrades recognition percentages. It's also going to be cold. Have a light scarf handy. Why make it easy?

If you have any strident bumper stickers, consider covering them up with something benign: "my kid is an honor student", "my kid beat up your honor student", "my pit bull ate your honor student".

Yes, some of us love to show our pride in various pursuits on our cars and trucks. For this weekend, the ONLY thing that is important is showing up at the Capitol building on Monday. Any bumper stickers that garner more attention from the cop that pulled you over for 27 in a 25 MPH in speed trap podunk on the way to Richmond doesn't help. Your "this vehicle is insured by S&W" sticker means your short stop for a ticket now just got longer. "You got any guns in your car? You going to Richmond? You got a current CCW? etc etc. Just a suggestion. Also helps if you remembered to brush your teeth. See above. Yes sir, no sir, I'm sorry sir, thank you sir and on your way.

VA frowns on radar detectors. Leave early and toss it in the trunk before crossing the state line.

Nag nag nag. I know.

Bring an extra, different hat. If someone wearing say an orange hat does something dumb, would be nice to have something besides an orange hat.

Toss a pillow & blanket or sleeping bag in the trunk. One for each passenger. Hotel hijinks should not derail us from the Goal.

Celebrate when you get back home. We're gonna win this thing.

Virginia Trauma Centers Map

http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/emergency-medical-services/trauma-critical-care/virginia-trauma-centers/

Know where hospitals are and where you are in relation to them.

VCU appears to be the obvious first choice. If they are busy, know where else to go. In Richmond or outside. If you have a fracture or something, you may want to hit a hospital on the way home. See above map.

Check out where the local "Doc in a box" quick care places are for minor injuries. Maybe enough pain pills to tolerate a trip home. Not allowed to say a bottle of whiskey. ;)

Remember Monday is MLK day. Many places are closed.

Identify who, if any in your group have any medical training.

For larger groups, current or former medics may want to wear something signifying so.

Unless something major happens, all you are doing is stabilizing a patient until they get to definitive care.

VA laws covering what EMT's & Medics may do should be read by any practitioners. I am familiar with PA, not VA. In general, good Samaritan laws protect people helping the injured. Don't play doc unless you know what you're doing. Do call 911 or assign that task to a specific person ("you, call 911", not "somebody call 911")

Next a pretty long winded, but necessarily so bit on copyrighting, protecting and selling any images or footage you may take on Monday.

(Another thing I put in the Big 300+ page thread

A quick note for everyone taking pics & video:

Consider adding a © copyright symbol to all your images.

If it's a particularly compelling or newsworthy image, forget PERSEC and proudly display your name:

"This image © Joe Schmoe, 2020, All Rights Reserved, No Reproduction without expressed written authorization" and watermark it on the image.

There are tools like Tineye.com that can not only be used to search for copies of images, but also alert you when a copy of YOUR IMAGE is posted anywhere.

Anyone violating copyright laws for YOUR IMAGES can be boned massively, especially if they use it for profit.

If you Tweet an image and get replies from ANY news agency, NEVER give them any ok to use YOUR IMAGES OR FOOTAGE.

They will typically say something like, "Hi, I'm Sally Sleazebag with XYZ news, can we use your footage? With attribution of course (meaning they'll pit your name in the tiniest print possible hidden in the image). Some networks will also add legal verbiage, along the lines of "you agree to let ABS News and all affiliates use your images blah blah blah".

Eff that. You take a good picture or footage, get a lawyer and squeeze the media for every dime possible to use any images you take. Especially if it's historic.

I'd even go so far as to add language requiring tye image not be edited, cropped or otherwise altered, if important.

If any LE demands a copy or the original, tell them to talk to yiur lawyer.

Store the original and copies in multiple safe locations, several NOT on your property.

Remember the Epstein video conveniently got lost.

If it's an image or footage of some serious crime, I'd also take lots of pix and footage of any offices, cars or houses of the photographer, BEFORE goons show up and toss the places looking for the original and copies of the image. That also means backing up your computer and giving backups to friends.

Quick reading:

The Essential Guide to Photography and Copyright Law

All of the above may seem dramatic, but consider some of the images that changed history and the people behind them:

The shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald – Robert H Jackson – Iconic Photograph

Nobody wants anything bad to happen on Monday (well, Bloomberg, Northam and the Media would LOVE to have things go south). Make that, no SANE person wants anything bad to happen on Monday. That being said, there exists the possibility things may happen and YOU and your camera, GoPro, iPhone or whatever may happen to record it. On purpose or by accident.

DON'T LET YOUR IMAGES AND FOOTAGE BE CONFISCATED.

Seriously, the first thing I would do is melt away into the crowd and swap out the memory card in my gear for a fresh memory card, and unass the area (shooting more pics as I left). Don't post the image right away. This is counter to an innate need to share and maybe grab a lite limelight. Especially if others are in the area with cameras (EVERYONE should be rolling from morning twilight until the day is done). Resist that urge until just what happened starts to become clear.

Do NOT negotiate directly with an AP or any known leftist outlet (NYT, WaPo, CNN etc) aside from direct negotiation being oit of the experience of nearly all of us, they may buy the exclusive rights ti a photograph just to spike it.

Ask in Team first. "Hey I took this pretty imprtant photo, what shoild I do?"

If it's really a unique image, one that is newsorthy, consider lawyers and/or agents with experience in the field. Use people who will work on a commission. A photography agent, for example, might eant a 25% chunk of a price. Lawyers may be similar. This may be OK. Imagine an Oswald picture taken today. What would it sell for? Especially if some outfit wanted to run it on the cover? A million? 10 million? More? (Odds are your great photo won't be a percentage of that, but it illustrates how a savvy negotiater for your image may make a difference.

Agents? Phone book in a big city or the Interweb? https://theagentlist.com/?s=Photography

Lawyers? Ask some of our better Arflawyers, understanding they may get a small commission for a referral.

If it was something that blew conspiracy on the side of Northam or Bloomturd wide open, I'd get a lawyer or agent and shop it to a medium where I KNOW it will be promoted. Not an easy task in a lefty dominated media. Honestly? I might consider the National Enquirer, which has done exposes nobody else would touch. Gary Hart ring a bell? Many other examples. If I wanted to get a bidding war going, I might add in the NY Post. There are others.

All of this may seem like daydreaming, and odds are big bucks for your picture aren't going to materialize. But you CAN control where and by whom it is used via proper application of Copyright Symbols and law.

Do not be intimidated.

For you guys live streaming or taking video of police doing police stuff, read Photography is Not a Crime for more info on your rights as a photographer. That site is anti-LE, so take their content with a huge grain of salt. On the other hand, exercising one's rights isn't always popular. Don't be a jerk and 99% of the problems go away. But don't be intimidated.

Go Here and download and print "a pocket guide to photographer's rights

"The Photographer’s Right

The Photographer’s Right is a PDF document that is loosely based on the ACLU Bust Card. You may make copies and carry them in your wallet, pocket, or camera bag to give you quick access to information about your rights and obligations concerning confrontations over photography. You may distribute the guide to others, provided that such distribution is not done for commercial gain and credit is given to the author."

TL;DR know your rights. Monday is important. Document it. Save it.
