Lamb of God Gojira Minushuman Down Kingdom of Sorrow All That Remains In Flames The Sword If you're a metal fan, ignore the pre-requisites, Pantera, Sepultura, Motorhead, etc. Any other good recommendations? |

Opeth is awesome
The Grand Conjuration is one of my all time favorites. I watched a "2 part" concert of theirs from overseas once that was pretty freaking cool. The first half was all mellow type songs and then the second half was all out metal to it's finest. Love me some old Accept too camaro |

Let me be the first Amon Armath I came here to post this. While not necessarily brutal metal I really like me some older Mushroomhead. Too bad Jmann bailed out on the band |

Cannibal Corpse
Suffocation Nile Belphegor Behemoth I'm a little partial to death metal |

Being NOT a metal fan, I'll ask this.
Isn't "good metal band" and oxymoron? Kinda like "obvious secret hiding place." Ya'll have a good evening! |

Haven't put it on iTunes because we give the digital version away for free on the web site. Only charge for the physical CDs, which are hand numbered and signed. My previous band had our CD in iTunes...never made any decent money. Metal fans come in 2 flavors: 1) Buy Cds (and vinyl, and shirts, and anything with a logo on it) or 2) Download music for free off every pirate site they can find. Metal fans rarely ever pay for digital music. These days, the only fans who pay usually are those who just have to have the physical copy because they are hardcore collectors. So we decided, fuck it, if they're gonna download it anyways, download it from us instead of some Russian MP3 site. |

I guess I'm hardcore cuz I love the physical copy of stuff, art work and all that jazz. |

BUT, I didn't think much of their latest prog album. And their last few albums have been flat and formulaic. They have two awesome songs and the rest is filler on those albums. And even the awesome ones, you pretty much know exactly what's gonna happen because they are set in their formula now. Blackwater Park was their best IMO. |

I've been known to buy something off of iTunes and then buy the physical copy as well. I was a huge Chimaira fan until the split, but I have a duplicates of there albums unopened along with autographed preordered stuff. |

Testament - their latest album Dark Roots of Earth kicks ass.
Sepultura Soul Fly - they went back to metal on the new Enslaved album. Some heavy shit on it. |
|
It's just clear to me that they are bored of doing metal and want to be a prog band. Problem is, they aren't one. So it just doesn't work for me.
