Welcome to the official AR15.com MCC group ammo purchase thread.
I am no longer taking ammo orders for the MCC SS109 group buy.
All SS109 has been spoken for, and there is no extra available for purchase.
As of today, all people with outstanding ammo orders have been contacted by telephone & notified of delivery of their refund checks.
I have been un-able to get MCC to confirm a completion date on the remaining ammo orders & have decided to mail the refunds out.
Since I got the money back from MCC I have had no new updates & because it has been six months since we odered, I feel it is time to put this group buy to bed.
I amongst others did not receive my ammo, & I feel really bad about it, but there is nothing more I can do.
I gave this group buy more of my time, money, & energy than I expected I would have to, & I am just happy that I was able to get as much done as I did.
Thank you, to everyone who remains with outstanding orders for your continued patience.
On Tuesday 01/18/05 I finally made it up north to MCC, after another bad snow storm on Monday. I was not allowed to bring a camera into the facility like some of you guys suggested (I tried), and when I asked to see the broken down loading machine, I was told that the whole machine was removed from the shop until it is fixed. I took a peak where the machine was when I first went up there and it was gone like he said. I then asked what stage the whole repair process is in, and I was told that the guy designing the part was having some difficulty and that it is still not manufactured yet. It will get fixed, but MCC doesn't have a set date that it will be fixed by.
I asked again, "when will my ammo order be completed?" I was basically given no real answer and at this point I began to get pretty agitated because the owner didn't have the best attitude towards me. "This is going into the fourth month" I said, " and I would think that you would be able to give me some sort of assurance that I will get the ammo that I paid for in a reasonable amount of time, or something???." Again no real answer, other than. . ." When the part is fixed I will complete your order, and until that time there is nothing I can do." He offered to sell me some 55gr ammo and I said, "No, that is not what I paid for or what I ordered." " If we wanted the 55gr ammo we would have ordered that to begin with" So with no real estimate on a completion date, I pretty much demanded that MCC refund the money that I spent on the SS109. I got a real hard time about it at first, and that is why I had to demand it be returned to me. I stood my ground & at the end of the conversation, MCC cut me a refund check & told me he would call me when the ammo was completed. He apologized but then tried to make me feel bad about sticking him with all the SS109 components. I am not buying into that song & dance because it is not my fault that his machine is broken down. I didn't accomplish much other than that.
I really wanted this to go smoothly for us, I hope you guys all know this. I tried my best but I felt at this point I should focus on securing our money, so that each individual can make their own decision whether or not to wait it out, or buy ammo from someplace else. I don't think I would have gotten the refund check if I hadn't stood my ground. But I fought for it & I got it, so at this point, I am leaving it up to each individual as to what you want to do. Anyone who wants to have their money returned to them, simply needs to send me an email and request a refund. You will be refunded all monies sent to me for your orders if you so choose, or you can stick it out with me and wait for the ammo orders to be completed. At least I have all of our money back and we are not forced to wait it out if we don't want to. I feel good about that. I will deposit the check MCC gave to me tomorrow, and when it clears, I will start cutting refund checks.
Personally, I am still going to try & acquire some SS109 ammo for myself, as I only ordered two cases & at this price I don't care when it arrives, I still want it.
I shipped out all the ammo that I borrowed from my FFL friend, and I haven't got any for myself yet.
I also still have seven cases of the Black Tip .308 AP ammo that I was stuck with. Anyone want some?
I wish I had better news, but that is where we stand with the first AR15.com SS109 bulk ammo purchase. I hope at the very least, that I have earned the respect of those who entered freely into this group buy. I always had the best of intentions regardless of what some people chose to think or say about me.
I hold no grudges and take nothing personally, as I see the other side as if in your shoes.
I plan to leave appropriate feedback for all, especially those who earned my respect & friendship by conducting themselves in a professional manor & following through with their word from beginning to end. I am very happy to have made some new friends here using the group buy as a vessel to do so. Thank you all for supporting my efforts, and also for your continued patience if you choose to hang out and wait for the ammo to be manufactured.
Please use this email address firstname.lastname@example.org for all refund requests.
12/21/04 ~ Edited to Add:

I also shipped out several cases of SS109 to some folks that requested I do so.
There is still more available with my FFL friend, so speak up & send me an email if you need some SS109 now.
Thank you ~ db

The loading machine is still not fixed, and I have spoken with MCC today about it.
MCC tells me that the bullet feed mechanism is being engineered with a very complex computer program. This is what is taking so long. I like the rest of you needed to know, why is it taking so long to make this one piece of equipment. What I did not know is that this part has to be designed and tested before the manufacturing of it can take place. MCC told me that these are machines that are not made any longer and that he can't just order one up and install it.
MCC said that he hopes to have the machine fixed by the new year, but that he can not do anything, other than wait for the guy that he hired to design the part to do just that, and then get it manufactured. So again I am sorry, but there is going to be a bit more of a wait, and unfortunately there is no precise date on completion. There are not going to be any refunds, as the ammo is all paid for and to do so, I would have to reimburse whomever from my own pocket.
I can not do this. I am however working on a solution for those of you who absolutely "need" the SS109 ammo right now, or for those of you who are worried about me stealing your money & just can't wait any longer like the rest of us. I ask that you contact me via email to communicate your needs. I know an FFL here in Maine who is sitting on an unknown quantity of MCC's SS109, and I am going to try & get some of it to take care of those who need it now.
Thank you ~ db
Update November 14, 2004
Hi guys . . . I just wanted to check in and let you know that I didn't have the time this week like I thought I would, to get up north and pick up the .308 Black Tip ammo. I did however call MCC and check in. The 5.56mm loading machine is still broken. Apparently the part that is broken is not something that can just be replaced by ordering one at a store. It has to be manufactured. The part that is broken is called the bullet slide mechanism.
Apparently this part that consists of three moving pieces or functions and the whole thing needs to be replaced.
There is a gear and a shaft and some other thing that have to be made by a machinist and then sent out for hardening.
MCC is hoping to have the machine running soon, but does not have an exact ETA on when that will be.
Based on everyone's comments here & those who have emailed me, I now feel that you guys will be ok if I go on my vacation.
I really appreciate all the kind words that have been sent to me about this.
I would stay home and wait for the ammo if I thought for a second that a majority of you would be pissed for having to wait for me to return from my vaca.
Thanks for your continued patience. If anyone has questions or concerns please feel free to give me a call.
Have a great weekend!
Thank you ~ db
