I guess I missed the original thread with the information in it. Is this just a barrel to build a SBR or is it an upper?

Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.

Yes this is just for the barrel.  SBR or pistol build.

Is  "6.5 Grendel, SAAMI chamber, headspaced for 0.136" boltface depth" the same as "Grendel Type 1" Chambering?  Uses 7.62/39 Bolt like BHW  .264 LBC?

No.

The wording around Grendel and .264LBC chambers is often confusing. This group buy barrel uses a dedicated Grendel bolt with 0.136" boltface depth, whereas a 7.62x39 bolt uses a 0.125" boltface depth.

The reason you're seeing "Grendel I" in this thread is to differentiate from "Grendel II" which is an odd non-SAAMI version of Grendel used by Liberty Barrels/Brownells/MidwayUSA. This is different from talking about Grendel TYPE 1 and TYPE 2, which is language made up by BHW to denote the difference between a chamber headspaced for a 7.62x39 bolt (TYPE 1) and a chamber headspaced for a 0.136" boltface depth bolt (TYPE 2).

Yep. That just happened.

Getting some traffic atleast.

I'm interested.

But not sure about the quality vs. say a Alexander Arms or a JP Precision.

Faxon, have you tested anyone of these barrels?  What type of groups are you getting with say Hornady SST or AMAX in 123gr?

also, velocity.....what can I expect out of an 12.5?

Please know that we absolutely will stand behind the work. If there is an issue with any part of workmanship, myself and the Faxon team will ensure that it corrected, all the way to manufacturing new barrels (if needed).

I don't expect there to be any issues (were really good at barrels), but know that "sales are final" does not mean "as delivered quality is final.".

Small question.....

Why are we sending money to a forum member instead of Faxon?

When other companies have done group buys they put out the feelers then people go to the website and pay at the website.

If this thing falls through.....what's my recourse?  What's my guarantee I'll get a refund?

Faxon....why aren't you running this group buy?  Seems like enough interest you should run this product right from your website.

I'd be willing to bet you get as many or more sales that way.

Not trying to "thread stomp" just wondering why Faxon isn't doing this directly (accepting payment that is)

Some good questions, which I hope we can answer in detail.

A stated goal of Faxon is NOT to be just production quantities. We love to work the semi-custom and keep runs accessible to OEMs at just 50 units. Its something that most shops cannot do. These "group buys" are falling into this goal.

1. What the forum member is setting up is a custom barrel. Faxon has not set our standard retail offerings and this gives users the option to create niche barrels that we would not otherwise do in a production environment.
2. When the part is custom to a specific user, they are the best person to manage the buyers. Having us handle questions when we do not understand the creator's intent is a recipie for unhappy customers.
3. You have our guarantee that the barrel will perform to our specifications and the print created by the organizer. If it does not, we make it right. Its that simple. We don't care who you paid, we make it right.
4. See above.

For example, the barrel created by the 65Grendel forum was not a profile we would offer, its what they wanted. Custom group buys give users significantly more flexibility.

Now, if we are launching a new product and want pre-orders, we will certainly organize this ourselves.

I don't think anyone is questioning the quality of your company's products. Its that the group buy (and the funds associated with it) are being handled by a random person. No disrespect to the OP. I commend him on getting this started. But if we pay our money to the OP, then not enough orders are placed and the deal falls through, how do I know I'm getting my money back? He isn't an industry partner, a dealer, a team member, and doesn't have any feedback from the EE.

Edit: Looks like OP bought a membership.

Price is lower too. 155+10 flat shipping for a total of 165. which is awesome. It is a 12inch not a 12.5
Please check the link and let me know if you want to continue on this group buy or the one with the Grendel. My hope is everyone will be ok
with the 6.5Grendel.com one, I will refund any difference in price to those whom have already paid, your forms will go to John directly from me
so you do not need to fill out another form. If anyone decides to proceed with the 6.5 Grendel.com one, John will be handling this from this time forward.
If you do not want to continue because you wanted the 12.5 inch barrel, let me know and I will get you a check out.
either way this is the best way to get the order in and get it done so we can get shooting. I want two, one I can use on stupid 300yard f class just for giggles.
Let me know if you guys need anything. thanks all.
