We have some black powder enthusiast among are ranks. We were basically trying to replicate a 20" Gov't profile.
To fire, the powder charge and bullet are loaded via a ramrod. Using a standard magazine with a single shot follower, an unloaded 5.56 case is loaded into the mag, inserted in magazine well and loaded just like a standard rifle. Once the rifle is fired, the empty brass is ejected manually and then reloaded. Here is a quick demo vid... Black powder demo vid We tested it with 6 pellets and 2 bullets(and a very very long string) and it held together just fine. Now it is off to MP test. |

so you load the powder and bullet like a normal blackpowder rifle and use a primed 5.56 case to prime the charge? what cal? how much? i am kinda intrested
It is a modified .223 case that uses a 209 primer. Currently .50 cal. Should have pricing and other specs tomorrow.
no kidding. Very Very interesting answer to the ammo crunch! |
Tell us more. Price, availability, options????
Now this I like! A wonderful option for black powder hunting. |
Couldn't you pre-prime a magfull of the special cases, load a magazine, and have semi-auto black powder goodness? hmmm.... |
Can you imagine the face of an unsuspecting
game warden the first time he runs across these.. |
dude a flintlock ar15 would own i would buy one easy, for what it is worth i am going to put a rail system light bipod and paq4 on mine for the win
I would like to see a .50 flintlock AR, and instead of an actual magazine, hollow out an AR magazine to hold the patches, balls, etc.
I laughed out loud |
I just saw something like this on the Tromix website yesterday.
I could see myself hunting with that. Imgine the look on the GW's face when they see that thing. LOL
I have a TC Pro Hunter in 50cal. I'm very interested in price.
Thanks |
Whoa, never saw this one coming.
Yeah, this is really gonna get Zumbo twisted around the axle! |
that is awesome!
I never would have imagined something like that. |
Finally a use for my MOLLE powder horn kit!
That is a really cool idea! |
hey if you don't land the shot at least you'll have time to escape in the smoke cloud
I can't wait to see a Fudd shit himself when you go out during black powder season with one of those.
That would be awesome. |
IIRC, they sold the one they had, and have no desire to make anymore. As far as this one, I'm not really keen on the loaded case for the primer. |
Well, it's nice in that it's self capping, but it wouldn't be semi auto as you'd still need load the powder and bullet via the muzzle. |

Maybe we won't have to worry about a smoke cloud. We have, under development, the uber cool "smoke brake". Similar to a flash hider or muzzle brake, it eliminates all smoke. j/k |
This isn't a loaded case, it is a 209 primer in a piece of .223 brass. There is no way a live round or a blank will load into the "chamber". Jeff |

You guys make some great products. But I really don't se a point to this. Would the R and D cost would not make it worth wild to produce? It seems like a nice novelty but nothing else. But, I think you guys build a great AR!
LAWL! I want to be the first one at my range to pop off one of these.. Watch all the old bastards who hate us "Black Riflers" Shit themselves.. CXS |
Is that a standard lower with a specialty upper? My quest is to have a few lowers in different configurations and multiple uppers that can be swapped around depending on the situation. Total "modular" rifle system. This would be a great (and novel) addition.
One issue that I can see arising is that of a fully featured AR lower not considered a firearm...
As an NRA Black Powder insturctor, I get dibs on the beta test unit. I'll let my students shoot it and introduce them to the true versatility of the AR system.
That is cool. One of those with a flat top upper would be really nice. How do you clean the "nipple" and is it replaceable?
Understood my error the minute I hit submit All the same, I can see this thing drawing quite a crowd at blackpowder events. Hell, it'd be a riot in IPSC |

Holy crap, just wait till word of this gets to Carol McCarthy. This will go right to the top of the list.
I'd almost buy it for that reason. But the one shoot I do doesn't allow inlines, or aperature sights. |
that's a shame. Just watched the video, seems easy enough. CMMG, are these in production yet? |
I will take one, or maybe two, what the hell, give me three. a new strain of BRD
Hence my comment. It would be a great way to lure young shooters into blackpowder. |
