Local news channel in VA (Channel 8) reports that the cab driver was shot from over 100 yards away from an elevated position. Not good.

This doesn't happen in Vermont for example, or here in Arizona. It hasn't happened in Texas since they reformed their laws after the Kileen Lubys massacare. |

with the little information available, how could anyone say there was little or no planning to these shootings?? they victims may be, or appear to be random, but the targeted areas and the travel routes could have been studied and planned for months. also, its been almost eight hours and there have been no arrests despite knowing the vehicle discription....
whatever the motive, the implicatioins of this should not be dismissed. if nothing else, it shows how vulnerable and fragile all of us really are. no matter how aware or prepared we are. |

Why does terrorism have to be any one type of act, or event? Is anybody else afraid they may have to defend their life in the near future? (at least until these numbnuts are caught?)
I feel terrorized enough to call and make sure my Dad, works around Rockville Pike, is OK and aware of the situation going on around his area of employ. Remember that every one thought the WTC plane attack was a Cessna or some other such small plane that must have veared off-course.....blah blah. It appears we might have plunged our heads back in the sand. The MCPD should call in all duty officers for OT until these assholes are caught, killed or otherwise terminating their activities. Homeland Defense should cover shit like this.....immediate flooding of the area with highly trained personnel, not a National Guard prescence marching down the street, but agents/operators in amongst the people.....not 24-7 just in direct response to threat levels escalating. If they are going to have these laws to disarm the citizens, then give us the disposal of a cavalry of other troops. If the opportunity arose for me to countersnipe I most definitely would take the shot assuming all my normal safety checks as with hunting in open farm land. Backstop, innocents, etc, etc. Sniping at ME can be proven as direct and imminent danger. Proving his/their weapons have the range to engage me at the distance I engaged them would be easy top prove and might hold up. Chance I'd take....... Ed |

My Father works for Mont. County, and is friends w/ Many Many LEOs.
Per the info he gave me, the scum bags killers are using rifles. Said the people that got killed were dead before they hit the ground. Almost all hits were thru and thru, some went thru the vehicle after going thru the victim. This is going to kill any chance of the assault weapon ban being lifted, lets face it, no matter what type of weapon that is being using, it will be and "assault weapon" Guarantee it! One lady was cleaning her car, and was literally blown under her vehicle by the round. The police had to "jack" up the car to get her out. These guys are Fvckiung scum bags. RIP! |

Well, I hope I am not wrong.
Usually the cops do a pretty good job of nailing suspects and most criminals do stupid things. In the Norfolk, Nebraska bank robbery they had suspects in custody before 6 hours had passed. I'm not trying to be overly optimistic, just playing the odds. Most suspects are caught soon, if ever. BTW - I might be ordering a .50 BMG before this week is out. [V] |

Bolt-action scoped rifle, .30 cal or so, based on the lack of wounded victims and "one-shot" kills. Terrorist related? 50/50. Not very high profile, but what better way to make people feel unsafe in their own neighborhoods? WTC makes you feel unsafe if you work in a high-rise; this type of attack hits you where you live. |

I have to walk home tonight from the White Flint Metro station, which is a block away from one of the shootings. It's a twenty-minute walk.

Just talking to my mother. She reminded me... The Shoppers Food Warehouse in Wheaton has a Montgomery County Police station AND a fire station right across the street!!! Here is a photo from mapquest. mayday, you should be safe. In Mary land they have restricted many guns so you should feel extremely safe. [rolleyes]
Maybe you could moonwalk home and that will distract the bad guys aim? ok, seriously now. The chances of you being shot is just about less than 0. But maybe try to get a GF, wife, parent, friend to pick you up or something. IMHO, the shooters are kicking back and checking the damage they did. They appear bold, so maybe they are hanging around the scene pretending to be a reporter or something. Main question, is are they done or is this just a start? |

What a tragic day. May the lord well come the victims when they arrive in his presents and may his spirt comfort their family and friends.
If it was up to me if the vermin where caught alive and after a far trial I would order them hang up in the town square and leave them there for a month as a warning to the trash of the world as what will happen to them if they murder American citizens.If the persons tern out to be local criminal trash, hang them high just the same!!!!!!!! |

I hope the police catch these dickwads, but i hope even more that an armed civilian blows their brains out.
Al-Qeada is not the only terrorist organization in the US. There is another called Al-fuqua or Al-fugra or some such. There were some arrested in virginia last year. lib |

If this is terrorism, its one of the most effective methods imaginable. Armed victims are still easy targets from over 100 yards without warning. You'd never know if you were attacked. And anyone nearby could never shoot back with a pistol, it'd be a lucky fast shot at a moving vehicle with a rifle to return fire.
Let's hope they catch them so we can know the motive for the shootings. |
