I love mine to death, he is a great dog. I just don't think I can do another one because no way he will be able to beat the one I have now.

I've had blue ticks, blue heelers, GSD. Always thought the heelers were the best ever... until my wife dragged a rescue, supposedly "golden doodle" home. He looks more golden than doodle until you shave him. I tried to dislike him and call him a useless piece of shit. But dang if he isn't the most loyal best dog ever - especially with kids. He refuses to chase wildlife out of the yard but he also does not chase cows when they graze close to the house either... so he was permitted to stick around. I have to try hard to pretend to not like him.

Quoted: The GSD is by far the best dog breed I've ever owned. They are totally cute and playful with their family, and they will gladly defend their family till their last breath. And the have the size, speed, and strength to be effective. They are strong, intelligent, and loyal. They love to play and have fun, but they are also amazingly effective at guarding a household. IMHO, no breed is all around better than the GSD View Quote Wrong. Akita best. |

I'm partial to Border Collies and Goldens, but there isn't a single "best" for everyone.

My wife's family had a couple and they were both great dogs. That said, I am biased toward blackmouth cur.

Yes. See avatar. But i guess for you lower speed guys, a GSD is fine.

I am partial to St Bernards.
The two I have now are very good protectors. The two I had previously were less so. |
|
I'm coming around to that position. All the German breeds. I had a Dobie/Dane that was the best dog ever. We rescued a Rott/Lab that looks just like her a few months ago and she's got real potential. Fur isn't as nice, but she's wicked smart and totally devoted. We've had Heelers, Aussies and my mom has a Doodle that's pretty cool, but it's the German lines that really appeal to me. If I had to pick a purebred it'd probably be a Dobermann though, not too big, not too furry, and everything I want in a dog. |

Quoted: I will admit that GSDs are up there in the top 3, but too much hair for top spot. My vote goes to Dobermans. Same qualities. Fun, loyal, smart, protective, but without the hair. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77002/226FA1C1-3BD8-494E-9529-F6BF60AB78C0_jpe-2619482.JPG View Quote +1 on the Doberman |

GSD is the best "breed"
but the best dog I ever had was a GSD/rotty cross. |

I'm partial to Australian Shepherds myself.
Perfect size, very little shedding. They can be full throttle one minute, and chilling out by the fire the next. They're also people pleasers, and smart enough to know what you want from them. But yeah, GSD's are cool too |
|
|
I dunno, they have history of a lot of bites and hurting innocents. Did you know they're even trained to attack humans? I think they should all be gassed and their owners charged.

This guy has been my constant companion for the last 9 years. Gonna really miss him when he’s gone. Had 5 GSDs before him. Don’t know if I will stick with a Dobie or get another GSD. They’ve all been awesome. |

Love my Dutch Shepherd. Never had a dog as smart as she is, nor as protective of the family.
She adopted my 2 nephews the first time she was introduced to them. She guards them now too. Attached File |

Mine has her head on my chest as I type. This dog is always glued to my hip. She even protected me once from some douches in the woods.
