I was going to go shooting this weekend but the weeks of relatively mild weather for northern Canada ended somewhat this weekend and it was windy and rainy yesterday and windy and snowy today. It wasn't cold -- only about 18F (3F with the windchill) -- but I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm to go to the range.
So instead I trimmed some 8mm Mauser brass for the Kar98k. The loads for that are among the few that I'm perfectly happy with and won't ever fiddle with. |

It's load development day here! 308 Winchester, subsonic offerings. 220 grain powder coated, M-80 pulls, and 173 grain cast. i'm trying all three projectiles with with RedDot and TrailBoss, just a bit more fine-tuning before I settle on a load. |

I seriously considered buying Dillon's Universal dacpping die, which is available at the LGS, until I read somewhere that the primer decapping pin is too thick for some of the flash holes. Still need to study the subject online before I bite the bullet, or order the Lee version online.

Going out to start processing my new 40short brass. 2500 cases predominantly win brand. Mostly Glock fired so I may have to bulge bust as well. |

Shot about 40 rounds of 6mm arc reloads. Pushing the limits of case capacity.
32.0-33.5 grains of LVR and 80grain sierra varminters. 33.5 about fills up the case. No real pressure signs in the brass, bolt lift was just a little tight. Best groups were 32.5 and 33.0. |

Put away 2k of A.R. 147 gr .308 pulls into the stockpile.
Worked on my ongoing inventory of reloading stuff. Found my missing die sets I was looking for. Gun show- bought a .45 ACP Lee FCD die, turns out I had one, needed the .45 Colt version (oops). Picked up some 2230 powder. We also found my son some die sets in 7,62x39 and .300 BLK. Trying to get him set up with plenty of stuff for doing his own reloading. Sorted some .223 brass… Got in the parts to run .308 brass thru my second hand Dillon crimp swaging tool. And last but not least, loaded up most of the oddball .224 projectiles I had laying around in small quantities. Various bullets, you name it. Most of them got 23gr of XMR2015. Gonna shoot them off next range trip, and be glad to be rid of them. Hate having 15 of this, 28 of that, etc… |

Attempted to load 300rnds of 158grn 38spl LSWC.
Ended up loading 292. I dumped 200 primers on the floor and had to scrounge them up and count. Found that even dust on a primer from a garage floor will gum up a primer tube. Broke 3 plastic pieces on my square deal - the same blue primer cap that goes into the magazine tube. Ended up hand priming 192rnds and running them through the Dillon afterwards. More time, but got the job done. 8 primers are AWOL. Called dillon and have replacement parts incoming. |

Sorted through the 5K primed 9mm cases I posted about here.
These were all inside a bag which was inside a box that was taped up very well. 5087 cases in the box. 5019 cases are ready to be loaded. 2 cases had the sidewall mangled from the demil process so I recovered those primers. 40 cases had no primer in them but there were 32 primers in the bottom of the shipping box. 26 cases had high primers which I set aside. I did not count how many I had to remove stuck powder from but I estimate it to be about 10% of the total amount. |

Parts from Dillon arrived today.
I took apart my SQDB setup for large primers, and replaced the delirin bushings with the brass bushings. Greased up the link pin and bushings and now the press is wobble free. Made a huge difference. My small primer SQDB press had the brass bushings, but I decided to take it apart. Clean it, and reapply grease to it as well. I also replaced the magazine tube on the small primer press and now I'm back to 100% functionality on both presses. |

Finally got some time and cut all new lumber for my second try at building a reloading bench. It got way too complicated trying to fix the first one. I'm going to complete it, paint it, and use it in the garden.
This time around, I searched through far more lumber to find what I'm using. It's all as straight and true as can be. I'm taking five times as long to make the cuts, and ensuring everything is within 1/32" of the desired length. Not sure if I'll be able to start assembling it tonight. Scouted an LGS for powder. Found H335, BLC-2, H110 and it's twin sister, Win 296. $42 a pound, no hazmat fee. Nice to know but I'll see what I can find at some nearby funshows before buying any. |

Trimmed, chamfered and deburred some .303 British brass for the No. 4 Mk I rifle. Very exciting.
I'll be taking an inventory of my supply of bullets -- I've noticed I'm running low for some calibres so time to stock up at current outrageous prices we'll be looking back at fondly in a few years time. I'm thinking of redeveloping some loads for rifles I've been satisfied with, but never enthused about, so that might lead to some different bullet weights for a few of the ladies in the safe. |

Swore that I would never load 40S&W ever again, after I sold off all my 40S&W guns, but here we are...
I picked up a couple k pieces of primed brass stupid cheap. Looks like the S&W 610 gets to eat good for a bit . Luckily I kept my Dillon 40 dies Set up the Dillon Super 1050 again and cranked out a quick 100 rounds of 155 FMJ on top of 6.3 grn of Bullseye. I'll take them to work tomorrow to function check them, then crank out the rest of the brass. |

Got a lot of powder at a show and from a local board as well. At $20-30/lb, I can’t complain, though it was more than I had intended to try to get at once, but I got a discount for buying it all.
Picked up some dies cheap- like a brand new Hornady .25 ACP set for $25. Got a few cartridge gages as well. Got a spare Vibra-Prime tool recently as well, those things are so nice for loading primer tubes that I worry about breaking mine and being dead in the water. So now I have insured that mine will never break! Sized a bunch of .223 casings in different batches... Got into a rhythm wiping off the case lube afterwards, and somehow ended up wiping down about 1000 LC casings that I hadn’t even sized yet. Oops. So had to re-lube all those and have started sizing them. So will be trimming all those soon and doing the primer pocket crimp removal. Also organized some of the spare parts for my press. Always good to have spares on hand so you can fix stuff without waiting for the replacement parts to arrive. Going to a big gun show tomorrow so it should be interesting to see what I find there. |
