I owned my first one when I was 14. I now own six in different sizes and calibers. I've been carrying the rifle for many years now in the service with the U.S. Army, a good portion of which was in the combat zone of Iraq.
Throughout all this time, the countless hours at the range and the fierce firefights in the streets of Baghdad, I consider it to be the best rifle on the market. It is a symbol of American freedom and liberties. It is battle proven and ready for the tasks that the future has in store for it. When the U.S. military replaces this rifle/carbine it will be a sad day for us all.
