The AK thing is an extended mag release.

Aggie and Tim, that thing is called a magazine lock. It's not an extended mag release.
I'm from California, and it's one of the many things that gun owners of the sunshine state have to put up with in order to have rifles with "evil features" such as a pistol grip. With the lock in place, the magazine cannot be removed without a tool (such as a bullet or screw driver), and would be considered a non-detachable magazine... It's a very long and painful discussion, but if you're interested in CA's crazy laws, and what law abiding gun owners have to put up with, go to www.calguns.net. A similar type of device is on the FAL if you look closely. It shrouds the magazine release making it impossible for a person to release the magazine simply with his or her thumb. |

I hope to make my FAL look very similar. Also, what type of front grip is that? |

I like it a lot actually....I got it for a steal and didn't plan on it really being a primary optic for anything, but it has worked out really well. The closest thing I can compare it to is a cross between an acog and an aimpoint. With both eyes open its very fast for target acquisition and with only one eye open you get the little extra bit of magnification. Seems to work out great for the FAL. |

I ran my Aimpoint M2 on my FAL for a couple of years and I liked that combo really well. The 2x seems like it would be almost perfect. |

The CTR will fit on it. The UBR might. The UBR comes with its own proprietary buffer tube that should screw into the lower.
Thanks I love this setup. I like the para buttstock but like you said it's not as adjustable. |
