Today I have a special treat. It's a Wilson Combat Tactical Supergrade. One of the finest 1911's you can get, and for sure the crème de la crème for Wilson. Wilson builds supergrades in low quantities and only lets their master pistolsmiths work on them. Usually one guy works on it from start to finish. He will also get the pick of the best parts. The action on this was smooth as butter.
The customer who ordered this has been coming in the shop for 1-2 years now. The first time he visited he was all about the Wilson Combat 1911's. Since then he's bought other guns and kind of found out what it was he was looking for. So about 3-6 months ago he told us exactly what he wanted and put the order in. He was pretty happy with it when he picked it up and I was happy to see him finally get his Wilson. It's also kind of weird because it's almost like the end of a journey. Wow, what a special pistol. I think that's the 1st WC Supergrade I've ever seen that had "Supergrade" deleted from the slide. Awesome!

More coming tomorrow! I've got some cool stuff coming in the next couple days.

Wilson advised against it as the marking is the only thing which really let's people know it's a Supergrade. But the owner wasn't interested in what model gun other people thought he had. He liked the cleaner looking slide. I agree. |

And also, I really like the black over silver with wood grip look. I thought the French Walnut stocks on this model looked great. I thought the whole thing looks fantastic. Worth the wait.

So today we have a Kimber Super Carry Ultra HD. I also brought in my "Jason Bourne" box. It's kind of a safety deposit box with foreign money, silver bullion, and passport etc. Every time I open it I feel like a spy.

Back again with a Wilson CQB! Now even though this is considered one of their most basic pistols it's still a Wilson Combat 1911. As always very high quality and Wilson seems to have a very consistently smooth light trigger pull. Has the traditional Green and Black finish. Very attractive 1911.

Ed Brown Kobra Carry! One of my favorite 1911's. I really like the texture and I'm a big fan of the Ed Brown bobtail on commander size 1911's. I also grabbed some VZ Grips to put on there which you can see in the last pictures.. And some silver bullion for added baller effect. Overall very nice stuff.

Did you swap the stocks? Those have the older WC logo on the grip medallions (which is actually the style I prefer), vice the new logo. |

If so, good eye! That was a previously owned gun we purchased from the original owner. For some strange reason, he sold the gun to us with no grips. The grips you see were a pair that had been given to me by someone who bought a Wilson but swapped grips. I always save them and try to stock a couple other logo grips for times like these, or, if a customer is looking for a gun and says, man, I really like this one, but wish it had these different grips. |

Today I don't have a lot of pictures for you but, there is a pretty cool story behind this 1911. One of our customers brought this in and was asking about how to keep the rust off of it. After some discussion about that I asked her where she had gotten the gun. Since it was chambered in .38 super (which is popular in Mexico) and the grips look kind of Mexican. She explained that her father (or grandfather I can't recall now.) was a Sheriff in Texas and that this gun was given to him as a gift while he was there. She continues to shoot it today though she's looking for something to take it's place so that she can not fire the gun too much more. there may possibly be a lady hawk in her future.

IMO, stocks aside, that's one of the most impressive 1911's ever captured on camera. Your photos of this pistol bring a high level of authenticity and detail to such a degree, that it sparks emotion. |

Wilson Combat Protector. I like the grips on this one. Here's what Wilson has to say about it.
Sometimes crafted from stainless steel, often two-tone with the slide finished in black Armor-Tuff® over a stainless steel finished frame, the Protector® has proven to be a popular executive’s choice. With excellent cosmetic appeal to catch anyone’s eye, it also offers special features that result in a near-perfect defensive weapon. The Protector® is a superb blend of form and function. The Protector® has a hand-fit match-grade barrel with bushing and a full-length guide rod offering unparalleled performance round after round. I was just about to take pictures of a Kimber Pro TLE II when one of our regulars stopped by and I asked him if he had anything cool on him. He showed me this Wilson Combat Professional with a Nighthawk Elephant holster. You'll also see an Ares Gear Ranger belt and towards the end his carry set up with included a Wilson 10 rd spare mag and a Rohrbaugh SOB carry. I have to say this Wilson was smooth as butter. It had that nice worn in feeling that you get from a gun that's been shot alot.

Today I have another special treat. This is another of Lito's 1911's. This one is a Nighthawk GRP Recon with a number of upgrades. The entire pistol has been coated in Diamondblack, it has raised Heinie Ledge sights, and a threaded barrel just to name a few. Of course there are many other features that make it worthy of being called a Nighthawk. Pretty awesome 1911 IMHO. Also shown with a Milt Sparks holster and an AAC Ti-Rant 45 S

Today we have something kinda cool. Costa brought his two new Signature Series Nighthawk Costa 1911's in. Pretty cool guns, I didn't get very long with them I really just threw them up and had to take some quick pics.
Here's what Nighthawk has to say about them. When we were approached by Chris Costa to do a new pistol model to his exact specifications, we jumped at the opportunity. We started with a full size fighting weapon, the Costa Recon. The Costa Recon has many new features that make this pistol one tough, reliable weapon. The slide has been machined to have a completely different look and feel than any of other models, with a multi-faceted slide top. The slide has top serrations culminating in an arrow point at the front to direct shooters’ eyes to the red fiber optic front sight. This model incorporates our new EVERLAST™ Recoil system, which allows shooters to go over 10,000 rounds without a spring change. Some of the other features include our new fully machined one piece mainspring housing / magwell with a rounded butt, Jardine Tactical Hook® rear sights, and an extreme high cut checkered front strap. In short, the Costa Recon has everything that Chris wanted to incorporate into his idea of the perfect 1911. FEATURES Integrated recon light rail compatible with a Surefire X300 tactical light Unique multi-faceted slide Serrated arrow style slide top Heavy bevel on bottom of slide Hand serrated rear of slide Barrel is crowned and beveled flush with the bushing One-piece fully machined 20 lpi checkered mainspring housing/magwell High cut front strap Lightweight aluminum medium solid Match trigger Aggressive 10-8 Performance® Hyena Brown grips Red fiber optic front sights (Tritium dot front sight upgrade available) Jardine Rear Black Sights (No other rear sight available) Extended Tactical Mag Catch Nighthawk Custom/Marvel EVERLAST™ Recoil System COSTA™ logo engraved in silver after finish MDH-7985 by Highway0311, on Flickr MDH-7987 by Highway0311, on Flickr And here's what they have to say about the Chris Costa Compact After the design of the full size Costa Recon, we began developing a carry gun built to Chris Costa’s specifications, the Costa Compact. This model has many of the same features as the full size model, but on an officer frame platform. The slide has the unique multi faceted slide top and top serrations that come to an arrow point. This model also incorporates our new EVERLAST™ Recoil system, which allows shooters to go over 10,000 rounds without a spring change. This model is the first model to include our brand new fully machined officer size one piece mainspring housing / magwell. This model comes standard with Heinie Slant Pro night sights. The Costa Compact is not only a beautiful gun, but a great choice for a carry weapon as well. FEATURES Unique tri-cut slide with bold angles Serrated arrow style slide top Heavy bevel on bottom of slide Hand serrated rear of slide Barrel is crowned and beveled flush with the bushing One-piece officer size fully machined 20 lpi checkered mainspring housing / magwell High cut front strap Lightweight aluminum medium solid Match trigger Black 10-8 Performance® 5 lpi grips Red fiber optic front sights (Tritium dot front sight upgrade available) Black Heinie Slant Pro Rear Sights (Tritium dot rear sight upgrade available) Extended Tactical Mag Catch Nighthawk Custom / Marvel EVERLAST™ Recoil System COSTA™ logo engraved in silver after finish MDH-7989 by Highway0311, on Flickr MDH-7991 by Highway0311, on Flickr |

So today we have another sweet Nighthawk for you. This one is a Predator II with a lot of options that a customer traded back into us. This one came with a Magwell, All Diamondblack finish, and Crimson Trace laser grips. To my knowledge this one has never been shot except at the factory. But I have to say the last predator I shot was the smoothest shooting 1911 I've shot to date. And having an all Diamondblack finish is an excellent addition to any 1911. It always seems to make the gun feel smoother.

Ok I know it's been awhile but things have been really busy lately. Here's a Costa edition Nighthawk we just got in recently. Plenty more to come soon.

That pistol has some sweet features ~ love the magwell, the deep mag release relief cuts in the stocks and the flat top serrations on the slide. I'm renewing my ARFCOM membership this month, in part because of this superb thread. I know I can still view it without a membership, but when you get value out of something, you should try to give something back; and the quality of your photos is worth the annual cost of a membership. |

There will likely be a lot more photos coming soon. Lots of 1911s were sold, and fortunately, just as many came in to replace them. The semi-custom case has had a near complete turnover in the last several weeks.

Ok I was trying to get this done yesterday but we were swamped once again.
Today I have a Wilson Combat CQB LE for you. This is one of Wilson's more tactical models featuring a light rail, ambi safety, magwell, etc. Pictured with it is a Galco V-Hawk. This one may ruffle a few feathers. It's Nighthawks FLX 9MM design. Nighthawks partially polymer doublestack magazine frame. Chambered in 9mm. I don't believe they offer this model anymore. Pretty cool 1911 in my opinion but I know the purists scoff at this sort of thing.

Does that rear sight on the Costa 1911 appear to be crooked to anyone else? I'm talking about the photo from the back of the gun.
