Hello Folks,

I recently purchased a Chinese SKS.. This is my first one.. I took the gun on trade from a friend of mine who is also a co-worker.
The gun came with the factory furniture, but was already dressed in what appears to be a Tapco fusion stock.. I've had the gun about a
month and finally decided to go out and shoot it yesterday.. To my surprise the 30 round mag that came with the gun will not go in !
So I decided to try the OEM 10 round mag and it wouldn't go in all the way either !  What's the deal?  Are there modifications that need to
be done to this stock?

My friend has offered to take the gun back, but I like it, and just want it to work.. He'd never fooled with this gun because it's not his cup
of tea.. So he couldn't help me either

Thank You HaLfLiFe, that was my idea also.. I just didn't want to surrender quite yet.. Especially if I was something I'm doing wrong..

It just acts like the trigger assembly is to far forward.. I just don't see how the gun would go together that way though.

My advice, put the original stock/mag back on and you won't have any problems. Whenever you try to turn an SKS into an AK you are asking for problems, just my .02.

This for sure.

PROBLEM SOLVED !!

I have AK's, and AR's, but this is my first SKS investment..
So, I don't know much about it yet.. Apparently, neither did the person
who put it together, because the original 10 round mag has to be installed
before the trigger group.. It came with a very cheap, or what I would say,
"junk" 30 round mag. So, cheap that it isn't marked by any manufacturer..
I guess the manufacturer wasn't impressed either..
I think the bottom line was that they couldn't get the 30 round mag. to work,
and didn't realize how come the OEM 10 round mag. wouldn't go back in...
So I got it for a song !!  After putting it back together right, this gun chambers
and shoots wonderful !!  I was impressed with the grouping at 75 yards
using the iron sights.. The gun also came with a red dot scope, which wasn't even
close to being zeroed.. Probably because they could only shoot it "single shot.."
Basically whoever put this gun together lost some good cash
for not understanding.. I mean how can you get beat trading an old .22 single shot
bolt action, and a $100 bucks for a fully tactical dressed SKS with the original wood???
I think the price was right.. Hell the Tapco stock,  like them or not,  is $75-$80 !!
