Why are these so expensive?  I'd like to get an original 10 round magazine but why are they around $120 a piece?  Are there any cheaper alternatives that are still good/reliable?

They're coming down and can be had under $100. Another importer just started bringing them in, so now there is more competition. SGM started selling a 12rd mag too, although factory is king.

Buy the Csspecs mags. Cheaper and quality nitrided steel construction. 10 rounders coming out soon. They sell blemished ones sometimes too. Fitting them was easy. I wouldn't waste my money on SGM mags with these around.
