What's the group thought on AK pmags?

I voted no. But stricly for range mags and really cheap(less than $5), then maybe.

I have a Bulgarian plastic mag(NO steel lugs or feedlips)and it had the front lug break off last week.
It was kept loaded and used every time I took the AK to the range.
It was about 2-3 years old and I used it for a range mag strictly.
I also have Tapco mags fully loaded for about the same amount of time and they have not cracked or failed yet.
For playing with maybe, but for a get outta town mag, NO.

For the money, I don't think surplus steel 30rd AK mags can be beat.

The problem isn't the mags. It's the magwell opening in the Wasr. Since they are opened up here in the States, each one is slightly different. Had a customer who brought his own plastic mags into the store. He said he'd buy a Wasr if his plastic mags would fit. The 1st 3 Wasrs I tried would not accept his mags, but the 4th gun he tried worked with all his plastic mags. He bought that gun. Can't do that with an on line purchase.  GARY

They work well for me in my WASR. I am not an ak guy though and don't do ak pushups, so the lug isn't a big deal to me.

There are better options. Surplus steel are cheaper and are the undisputed champion of rugged durability and reliability. For casual use, non-reinforced polymer mags like the Pmags are perfectly fine, but Tapco mags are far cheaper for equivalent quality. So Pmags lose to steel on construction and lose to Tapco on price.....and lose again to steel on price. That said, I think Primary Arms has Pmags on sale right now for under $10. That makes them a bit more competitive with the other options.

Over the years I have worn out or broke AR mags, Glock mags, BHP mags, etc. BUT I have yet to fully wear out or brake a military issue (someone's military) steel AK mag. I have had to clean them of rust knock out some dents and replace a couple springs but that is it.

So, unless you NEED a U.S. made AK mag for 922r compliance, I just don't see the reason not to use a commie surplus mag.

I use only commie steel AK mags , they are the best by a large margin

Newb question. For a wasr is there a specific surplus types steel magazine that should be used or are  any good. Any thoughts on who gives the best prices or has the best quality for the most reliable ones?

No doubt. Sorry.

They work, but had to be sanded and fitted for the WASR and my Arsenal.  If you need a 922r magazine, the Tapcos I have are of much higher quality and build, but also need to be fitted

I could never get my AK PMAG to fit in my WASR because the donkey dong got in the way. The front lug seems much larger than Combloc and other American magaizines (or at least Tapco). Fits perfectly in my SGL26, but with the grip in the way it wont seat in my WASR.

When is Magpul going to release the upgraded version that has steel reinforcement like a Bulgarian Circle 10?

Until Magpul releases the reinforced versions...Tapco's are superior imho.

I'm waiting on the steel reinforced P mags. Until then I'll use my Tapcos.
