Has anyone ever painted or coated the inside of their 80 percent lowers. Id like to hear about it.

I've used Lauer Custom Paint and I thought it turned out well.

Same here.  I recommend AGAINST using Birchwood Casey 15125 Aluminum Black Touch-up. It acted like a corrosive to the machined trigger well!

I masked it off and used regular old flat back Rustoleum.

I have Brownell's Alumahyde 2 on mine. My goal was to paint the outside of the receiver, not necessarily inside the pocket, but I didn't mask it off, either. All has been well at the range with both of them that were painted this way.

An airbrush with Norrell's Moly Resin, followed up by an hour in your oven would be perfect.

I don't think you neutralized the Aluminum Black properly, if you didn't, it will cause pitting.

I coat the inside of my completed 80% with a product called Sharkhide metal protectant.

Don't use VHT ceramic header paint.  You would be better off with flat black spraypaint. I stripped it off with denatured alcohol...so not very chemical resistant. It also scratches/rubs easily.

For the most part, I don't really even worry about painting them on the inside,  if I was going to do anything, I would strip them and have them anodized again, so everything matches, but I have been playing with anodizing at home to see what I can come up with, there is a thread here that explains the process which is helping me out a lot.

+1.  I have used Norrells on a number of receivers.  Extremely durable and resistant to every chemical I have access to except epoxy paint stripper.
