Hey everyone.  I'm a complete newbie here on the forum, but I am not completely new to the AR platform.  I have successfully built a few Ar-15 rifles in 5.56 as well as 7.62 x 39.  I have also done a few 80% lowers for myself with 100% success as well.  I am wanting to up my game a bit and try my hand at an AR-10 or AR308 build.  I want to get and complete a 80% lower and assemble the lower myself.  The upper I could care less about.  I don't mind assembling an upper and I don't mind buying one complete.  I would like to get something that is reliable and reasonably priced.   I would like to stay as close to the $1000 range as possible.  I do realize that the AR-10 stuff is 3x the price of AR-15 stuff, but I need to set a limit somewhere.  I am not looking for a super high-end build, just a fun project.  I have my eye on the M1 machining 80% lower and jig, however I have never used that company before and don' t know if there are any issues.  I have also seen that TR Enabling has a lower as well.  I have used their stuff before, but it is a bit more expensive with the jig.  I have also come across a few uppers that may be contenders.  There is a CMMG 18" and Ground Zero Precision has a few options for complete or parts kit uppers.  Any thoughts, opinions or comments are welcome.

Thanks

The 308 game is fairly pricey, but it's all in good fun.

I "think" mine were built from Tactical Machining and MI 80's.  We've done a few others, I think those were Daytona Tactual and Thunder Guns or something.

I did mine on a mill, so I can't help you with jig selection, but if there's anything else, please don't hesitate.  Somebody else could learn too.

Here's the first 308 I built from 80%.

The second one was the foundation for an Alexandria Pro Fab 18" upper.  I have yet to pick glass for it, but I am liking it quite well.
