I have a barrel that has a rifle extension in it that I would really like to install in a billet upper that I have that has the M4 cuts. Will it function or is it a total no go?

That is the only possible NO-GO configuration.

ADCO will dremel the feedramps so it will work with an M4 upper.  I'm probably going to have them do it on a standard barrel I have, since I already have a few M4 uppers.

Or you could buy a non M4 upper.

Your choice.

OP:  For the cost of sending the parts to ADCO, you could buy a dremel-type tool, a 3/16" grinding tip, some polishing tips and do the job yourself.  Its a relatively simple, quick job, plus you will have the tools left over for future work. - CW

Yeah, I looked at the ADCO site and it said we will do it with our dremel for $15 or you can do it with yours for free. I happen to own a dremel tool, what could go wrong?

I really want to use this upper because I have a matched billet upper and lower. It has a 6.8 SPC barrel in it now but I'm thinking about getting rid of that barrel and using an 18" La Rue that I have.

I have several rifles in the "forbidden" configuration.  Out of several thousand rounds I have had one hollow point round hang up on the the receiver cut.  Try it and see how feeding from your mags gets along with that configuration.

The ramps in the receiver can be filled in with JB Weld if you don't want to take the chance on messing up a barrel. Once it cures it will be plenty strong and wear resistant.

Well I went ahead and put it together with no Dremel work. I took it out this morning and fired about 50 rounds through it, 55, 62, and 77 gr. bullets, no malfunctions!
