I was planning on a FDE rail, then I mocked up what I had on hand and dang, it don't look BAD. What do yall think?

And WTF is this? Vertcal hole, where forward assist should be

And, no forward assist. So much for the Titanium forward assist that just came in today

The hole is just unnecessary material that was removed to make it lighter.

sorry couldn't resist.  It's to remove extra material for weight savings

An FDE rail would be too much, I think it looks way better like that.  Maybe an FDE muzzle device and front sight?

I personally like the two tone look. All fde just doesn't do it for me....an fde rail with some black rail covers would look nice also

I like the fde receivers and black furniture look way better than the opposite

Now there's an idea. Turns out I was looking at the Kaw Valley Linear Compensator, and it happens to come in FDE. So do the polymer diamondback sights I want. Things are looking pretty good to me now...I can also put some FDE Rail covers on also

I like what I am seeing. Also like others said just a lite weight upper that's why the hole is there.

I'm sure it is their to lighten up the upper but you may be able to use it as a single point sling attachment point.

the hole is actually supposed to work like the dimples on a golf ball.  more high speed, low drag.

what barrel are you going with?

I'd use it for dummy cord for whatever optic you're putting on it

Front sight would be nice, but an FDE muzzle device would get all sooted up and blackened in one range trip.

You bought a light weight upper / lower set

They removed any 'unnecessary' material.

Well everything is ordered now, went with the Geisselle SD3G and the KAW Valley Linear Comp. Looking forward to seeing the Trijicon MRO. Saved 65 smackers on the Geisselle at Primary Arms

Well, with everything now ordered for my LW Build, I thought I might need a better scale. I have been using my digital fish scale, but since noticing a difference from what the webste claimed and what my fish scale was reading I thought I should upgrade. Web site says the Vella 15" with barrel nut, shims and screws weighs 11.5, my fish scale says 10.8. so, I ordered this,
