Just received my Mega Arms billet upper/lower set. I'm really impressed with the quality and can't wait to get it all together. Here's the plan, all parts have been ordered so just a waiting game at this point. Will post pics as I start assembling.

Upper:
Mega Arms billet upper receiver
Mega Arms billet charging handle
Rainier Arms match .223 Wylde barrel - 18" SPR
Spikes Tactical BCG
Giessele MK4 15" rail
Giessele low profile gas block
Fortis RED brake
Ohuhu 6-9" bipod

Lower:
Mega Arms billet lower receiver
Battle Arms Development ambi safety (standard/short)
Battle Arms Development pivot and takedown pins
ALG combat trigger
KNS trigger/hammer pin set
Seekins enhanced bolt catch
Rock River A2 operator stock kit
Magpul MOE+ grip (still waiting for it)

Still deciding on a scope (any suggestions).  Should be a tack driver.....

Have you checked to see if the Mk4 rail works with the Mega billet upper? I'm pretty sure it doesn't.....

I recently asked about the comparability of the Mk4 with a Seekins billet upper in a couple of different threads and both times someone commented that the Geissele rail wouldn't work with a MEGA billet upper. It may work if you're willing to modify the rail...not something I'd want to do personally.

Yes, I'm aware that it will require some minor modifications to make it work. Wish I didn't have to but I really like the rail and it shouldn't be too hard to get it right.  I'll post pics of the modification required

As stated above, the rail doesn't work because of the anti-rotating system. I have a MK2 on my billet upper that required some modification and is now basically proprietary to that upper. Luckily, Mega Arms is just a skip away from where I live. Can't say enough about the quality of their work/willingness to help a customer out.

This is why I always do the Mega GTR-3S with a Mega forged upper. Way less weight and works with everything.

Came home to a few packages delivered and was able to start on the lower. Got most everything done. Just need stock buffer and magpul grip to finish it (put A2 grip on for now)

Lots of packages came today. Giessele rail with a ton of swag!  Rainier barrel, Fortis brake, gas tube, dust cover, forward assist, and Seekins enhanced bolt catch. Hope to find some time this weekend to start assembly.

I just fitted the Giessele rail to the Mega Billet Upper.  5 minutes with a Dremel (sandpaper wheel and small stone).  Don't let this discourage you from using the rail on a billet upper...it was a piece of cake to modify and rotation tabs are still in place.  Just take your time and remove a little material at a time.

I test fitted and traced the rail with pencil where material needed to be removed

Rail after using the dremel

Then I used some Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black to color the rail (I couldn't see any bare aluminum when rail was installed)

Final fitment to upper.  Fits like a glove now.

Good job on getting it to fit correctly! If you don't mind me asking, why is it that the rail needs to be modified for billet uppers only?

Thanks.  Most billet uppers are thicker than mil spec at the front of the receiver where the anti-rotation tabs are on the rail.  If the rail didn't have the anti-rotation tabs it would fit like every other upper/rail would.

Upper is done except for the muzzle brake.  I'm in MA so will need to pin and weld it when I get a chance.

Rifle is pretty much done, just waiting on the Magpul grip and still need to decide on optics.  I'm real happy with how it came out.  Picture is from my phone so it's not the best, but you get the idea

Nice job. I'm not crazy about the stock, I'd like to see one of those ACE skeleton stocks on it. Not sure why though.

I guess the Mega billet upper is thicker at the base cause my Mk4 fit just fine without modification on my Vltor MUR upper

I've decided on a Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 3-9x40mm scope with their firedot mil recticle.  Will be mounting it using an Aero Precision scope mount. Should have have it this week and then I can hit the range to break her in

turbo:  Why the muzzle brake?  A flash hider is more appropriate and authentic for a heavy SPR-type rifle.  Perhaps you MA state laws forbid certain military features. - CW

Bingo!  MA still follows the AWB so no flash hider, brake needs to be pinned/welded, no adjustable stock or bayonet lug. It sucks, I'd rather run a flash hider. The muzzle brakes are LOUD!  This state is not very fun friendly. Handgun laws are even worse

Well OP, thanks to you I'm going to do the same modification.

The SLR Solo rail is out of stock everywhere and I'm not waiting 10-15 days for them to come back.

Gotta ask, did you leave those set screws long or did you cut them short?  It looks like they were standing tall in a few of your photos.

The set screws sit flush and I didn't have to modify them at all.  You can see one in the picture with the scope. The earlier pictures were just when I test fit the rail

I fit mine without issue.  It took a while grinding and test fitting, but came out fine.

The grub screws didn't want to sit completely flush so I used a cutting disk to remove about 1/16" from each, rounded the tip, and screwed them in.

Fits tight with top rail matching perfectly.

For what it's worth, an SLR sentry 7 fits fine under the mk4 with room to spare.
