Cool build! Might have to do something similar with one of my 80% builds just for something different.

Thanks guys, already working on the next one, which i hope will surpass "The Woody"
IM me if you're interested in selling another set of furniture like that. I'm loving this gun way too much.
The ar's with wood always looked retarded to me,, like putting wood or steel on a glock.. But this is the first AR with wood incorporated into it and it looks beautiful! Good job!
Old school Tag, I drooled over this thing since I saw the first pics of it, I didn't know you used a veneer instead of a solid piece of wood for the stock though.

View Quote Thank you, there's no room for a thick piece of wood there without causing interference with the charging handle when charging the weapon. This way allowed me to have a even stronger cheek rest and have the real wood. If i had veneered over the stock kydex plastic i would of also had interference with the charging handle. |

I like how the upper and lower have the stamped metal look. Combined with the wood, it looks like the offspring of an STG-44.

Damn, that's awesome looking. Did you choose zebra wood for the looks of was there some other reason?

View Quote It was the sexiest wood that i saw at the lumber store that day.lol (pain in the ass wood to work with) Also the only one that i could find thick enough to make the handguard piece out of one piece. I am currently making another one with better wood and i'll be able to be more creative with the handguard piece which was my original intention but was restrained by the size of the wood. |
Dang! You did a real nice job with that one OP!
It has a sort of Star Wars meets SteamPunk look to it. Nice camera work too. |
WOW, these are really nice. What is the cost for these? Where are they sold?

Looks great. Very impressed with the way it looks; you did a great job picking the grain of the wood, I think that made all the difference.
That's fucking bad ass! I'd love to see a more in depth step by step process of this.
This one is truly bad ass. The handguard has a whole Thompson-esque look about it. The gun would be sweet as it sits, the wood is the cherry. Hard to integrate wood and an AR, but this one nails it. Good work OP.

Very neat and attractive.
What does the wood on top of the rail do? |
That is so stinking sweet! I might even go as far as calling it sexy.
The only bad thing about it is that seeing this makes me want to do something with some antler...... So many ideas, so little time. |

Unless you change the wheels or belts. Other than that it looks great. |

If you want to call it "woody" what about making a wooden AR15 lower?
First AR with wood furniture I have seen that I like. Great work OP

If you want to call it "woody" what about making a wooden AR15 lower? View Quote I would rather keep it made of aluminum. All the parts i made can break and fall off and the rifle will keep running, the lower would be a disaster. It would need reinforcements made of metal in the buffer tube area and probably on all the pin holes depending on what wood species is used. Wood also like to break along the grain lines so certain areas like the magwell would probably be really weak or overly big to keep it strong. |

Scarr: Thanks for the inspiration on your build, I am doing Laminate wood rail panels after seeing how well your build turned out. :)

Terrific work OP!! Dang - and I thought my 762x39 'woody' was cool... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/275/19029585116_b374794db7.jpg View Quote Wait until you see this next build! Wood is making a come back!! ha ha! |
