A 12 won't cover a rifle length block. I have one with a 12" rail and wish I went with the 13 or 15. Its your preference.

There are lots of pics all over the Internet of 13" rail/20" barrel combinations. Whether it looks good or not would totally be your opinion. You're the only one who knows what your tastes are, doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

Originally I had a 13 inch rail I was going to put on a 20 inch barrel, but it didn't completely cover the gas block. It did cover the gas tube, but the 15 inch looks a lot better.

A 20" barrel demands a 15" hand guard no question.
