Just started ordering parts for an SPR type build.

What do you use for a MD and why?

Thanks!

Most people would say SureFire SOCOM as it is works with suppressors. I opted for the Lantac Dragon after doing lots of research and finding one on sale for $125 shipped. I've run a couple hundred rounds through it on my 20" SPR build and absolutely love it. Virtually no felt recoil and zero muzzle climb. Lots of the negative reviews about the Dragon are based off of side concussion but you won't be clearing rooms or anything CQB with a SPR.  I shot my SPR last weekend with the gopro and I had a hard time finding which clips I was shooting it since there is no visible recoil/muzzle climb.

Nice, Thanks I will check them out.
I had the SF socom on my list already, but I am not planning on running with a suppressor.

(Not planning)

I think the Miculek is worth looking at for an SPR.  Very economical and tons of recoil reduction...

I'm running an original TriDelta on mine.  Also, not planning on suppression...  But cheap enough to throw in the tool box if I did decide to step up.

I have a Seekins ATC on a Noveske Recce build, and I would put it in the same league as the Lantac Dragon, very little felt recoil...

AE brake and collar.

What are you wanting out of the muzzle device?

Unless you are going for an actual clone.

I used a PWS Triad flash hider. It works well, not as good as my Surefire at suppressing muzzle flash, but I like the way it covers up the crush washer or shims. It gives a clean look where the MD transitions to the barrel.

I prefer a suppressor as a muzzle device.  Makes things far more civilized.

If you like the SOCOM but not the price, or don't wAnt to run a suppressor, look at the Surefire ProComp. It's the same at the SOCOM but won't host a suppressor.  It's also about half the price and just as effective.

Specwar brake with a Specwar suppressor on it.   The brake is rated fairly high on recoil reduction by itself.

And the brake is free at no charge to you and all you have to do is buy the specwar can.

Low recoil, low muzzle rise.

Not to worried about hiding the flash or suppressing sound.

Then I would look into competition-style muzzle brakes because those are what they're built for.

Where I live it makes them far more illegal as well, which has a tendency to outweigh your noted advantage.
