i know this may be a odd question but my son who is eight loves to shoot but he is rather short and has a real issue keeping the stock on his shoulder while he is firing the gun, I'm concerned he might end getting hurt by the recoil because he has to put the stock on top of his shoulder to look down the sights. Any suggestions would be great.

Get a collapsible stock, you'll be able to adjust the length of pull to suit both you and your son.

I put a LWRC Ultra Compact Stock on the AR my son uses to shoot.  It's adjustable and approx 1" shorter than a regular set up.

Seems kinda pricey, but you are getting the entire stock kit and not JUST the stock itself.

$129.00 plus shipping through LWRC  but they go on sale from time to time. and that's when I picked up both of mine (other one is going on a SBR).

I just noticed you are in Tx.  Near Austin/Lockart area?

Not only the collapsible stock, but also rubber stock pads, or even just some foam taped to the butt.

This post reminds me of my 1st rifle when I was about to turn 5. It was a bolt action .22lr with a wooden stock that my dad chopped down with a table saw - looked more like a pistol with a long barrel *lol*

An ACE entry length skeleton stock with the rubber butt pad is a good fixed length option for a small shooter.

A collapsible stock would seem to be the obvious answer.

I agree with the collapsible stock. I'm the biggest one in my family . Full extension for me everyone else uses the shortest length.

Collapsible stock is the easy part.  The hard part is getting good cheek weld while using a scope.  My son still struggles with this using a CTR.  I think Im just going to add some foam to the stock.

Have you tried the RISR that snaps on to the CTR.
