How in the heck do you get the dang pin in the gas block? Tap, tap, tap, into infinity? Some kind of trick? Magic? What's the secret?

You buy a taper reamer and ream the hole, checking fit regularly.

So I guess drilling it out is not a good idea then. Just kidding. Was thinking about fine grit emory paper.

It will actually go about half way through and stop. I can build a small block Chevy with my eyes closed, you would think I could drive a pin. Oh well first time is always the hardest.

If the hole is not already tapered, bashing it in is going to break something.  Get a taper reamer, ream the hole properly, or sell it and get a regular set-screw gas block if you're too lazy to do it right.  And make sure you're driving it from the correct side.

I'm far from to lazy to do it right. The point of my post was to make sure I was doing it correctly or if I was missing something somewhere or if since its the first one I have done if they are all that difficult. Now I know I was indeed doing it correctly and there's no magic to it. You just have to keep tap tap tapping on it when it gets to mid point. It will eventually get through. Now the question is as much of a bitch as that was do I really need to locktite the set screw?

They're all that tight. Big hammer needed.

I had the same issue. Reamed a little, used a customer made gas block holder, in the end I used a 20-ounce carpenter hammer and the pin still did not go a the way through.
So I stopped  before I broke something. Granted this was my first pinned gas block, but damn. I contacted Noveske and they said I needed a barrel clamp, a good gas block holder, and a “pad” under the gas block. So they were no help.

Note: one end is beveled, so I put the end in first per directions from Noveske – I did not measure the diameters.
