Figured this would be a good place to share this. I have an HTA 5.56 Kestrel suppressor with the CF Gunworks QD adapter that uses YHM mounts.

That's all well and good but YHM doesn't make a proper brake that will act like a sacrificial baffle. With the 10.5" barrel on my pistol it only took a couple mags to already see signs of erosion on the first baffle.

I'm an amateur machinist but I turned this from 316L stainless, ground a tool bit for the 8TPI acme thread and another for the snap ring groove. I then held it in a 5C collet indexer to put the flats on the back and then put it in the mill vice (a CNC Bridgeport clone) to mill the blast chambers. I hope it works Wish YHM would sell these, it was a lot of work.

What exactly do you mean by the bold statement? Their brake should act as a sacrificial baffle perfectly fine.

Never seen a picture of the front, always assumed it was a big ass hole all the way through, that would probably be fine then.

For what it's worth, I like the looks of yours better than the YHM.

I will agree to that - it looks good OP

The new YHM mounts are smooth, but the OPs still looks better IMO.

The 5.56 brakes are OK.  The 7.62 brakes are epic pieces of shit, and do not have any sort of sacrificial baffle.

Pretty cool seeing what you did.

Good work OP.  The latest YHM brakes look like absolute crap and appear to be less about function and more about the zombie killer look.

They do a piss poor job of advertising it and mine will work better anyways. I couldn't find a good picture of the front, all the pictures I found make it look like it's just that big ass hole.

Here's a better picture.

Whether it works better or not, it looks much better than YHM's mounts. What did you make it on?

Thanks!

I used an old school Delta Rockwell 11x36 lathe and a knockoff Bridgeport with a Centroid CNC control, machines I have at work.

I just did something similar
AAC 51T mount + KAC MAMS style brake

Yet another addition (you can see a couple other changed on the build as well). I made a brake shield to help kill the concussion from the brake. I just went with aluminum, it's simply knurled on the outside, bored and threaded. The walls are fairly thick and will hopefully hold up, didn't want the extra weight of a steel shield. Beats paying $71 for a production shield.
