Picked up a free float tube a while back that came off a Mossberg AR15.

Sure enough, they use a proprietary gastube, where the bend is closest to the barrel nut.  The bend needs to be pushed back about two inches on the regular tubes I have in possession.

Tried calling Mossberg and they are unwilling to sell me a gastube.

So how do I bend a gastube?

Did this for a hogue free float tube. Drill a hole in a small piece of 2x4 about the size of the tube. Stick the tube through the hole and bend gently.

This and maybe heat the part of the tube that needs bending?

Go to the hardware store and go to the yellow boxes with the nuts and bolts collection.

Find the box with the springs and select a spring with an internal diameter the same size as the gas tubes od.

Insert tube and bend kink free.

Get a cheap hand held tubing bender.   Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, Etc.
tube bender
Tape one end of the tube closed and fill with water.   Put it in the freezer until the water is frozen solid and bend to shape.  The ice will keep the tube completely open and un-kinked.   Thaw it, dry it out and viola' one proprietary Mossberg gas tube.

On a side note, I think its kind of BS  that Mossy won't sell you a gas tube.   They want you to buy a new rifle every time a part needs replacing?

Take the tube to a reputable auto mechanic. We bend brake, fuel and transmission lines all the time if you live in the northeast where they constantly rust out. If you live in a dry climate you might as well  just try it yourself as you will have the same experience as most technicians.
