Just ordered a 15" Troy Alpha rail in FDE for my previous build. Currently have a 9" Daniel Defense Omega rail, which I like but I wanted something lighter and longer. What is everyone's thoughts on the rail? It's a "pre-academy graduation" gift!

Also, I currently have a fixed front sight and am getting a low profile gas block to add on. Do I need to get a new gas tube as well or will it just depend on the make? Not too familiar with this part of the rifle.

Thanks in advance!

You don't need a new gas tube. If I were you, I would just chop the stock FSB that way you retain the rigidity of the pinned gas block and do not need to worry about finishing the holes drilled in the barrel.

Alpha rails are alright. They kinda feel like cheese graters though. Too sharp with too many edges. I'm selling my 11'' with sight to go with something a little wider and smoother. I guess it's just not for me

Gas tube will be the same. That rail is awesome. I do not personally have one, but got to handle one and loved how thin it was. Congrats!

my only complaint about the troy rails is that its a bear to get the backing plates for the attachment rails around the gas block. i run an 11" vtac on my 10.5" barrel and its an interference fit on my KAK pig so i had to take some emery cloth to it, no biggie.

Ok awesome, thanks for the response. I held two buddies' rifles and they both had the Troy Alpha rail and I really liked them. So much lighter than my current Daniel Defense rail.

Thanks for the response! I will make sure I post pictures once I get the rail and get it installed!

I will look into that once I receive the rail in the mail. Thanks for your input!
