I attempted to anodize a lower today and it was a complete failure.

I used rolled aluminum wrap for my cathode and a 10 amp battery charger.  When I turned on the charger the water turned a nice milky color for about 3 minutes and then the water cleared.  For the next 72 minutes bubbles and thin strands of milky stuff was swirling from the cathode.

After 75 minutes I pulled it out and there was not the platinum color change I was expecting.  Instead it was just a dull aluminum color.

I attempted to dye it and the dye would not penetrate at all.

Where did I go wrong?

Most battery chargers don't stay at full amp output. They drop as battery gains a charge. Not much you can do about that, so I suggest looking into a power source that maintains a constant output (amps) first, then go to step 2.
