I'm about to start an AR project that I'm calling "Project 8 Pounds".

The goal is to have a suppressed, scoped (magnified scope), loaded AR that is 8 lbs or less. So that means the bare rifle needs to be 5 lbs or less. My AAC Mini 4 should come through any day, so I'll be needing a AAC flash hider for it. But the damn things all weigh over four ounces, and I'm trying to shave off weight on every inch of the rifle. Has anyone ever seen any ways to reduce the weight on these things? Or maybe another brand that I could use?

Also, they add 2.5" to the overall barrel length, so I guess I could have the barrel chopped to 13.5" and pin the FH?

Too late for that. Plus I already have AAC QD cans that all run on the same mount, so I want to keep everything interchangeable.
