I bought a yhm 20" fluted barrel and a model 1 bolt and enhanced firing pin. Not realizing all that goes into an upper is there a kit I can get so I don't have to back out? I really want to build this but I live in a small town with not a lot of support or resources. What can I do to finish upper and I think I will try to find a complete lower so less I have to build.

It's really not that hard. Check out some YouTube videos on it. If you're unwilling to buy a tool or two, places do assembly work like adco.

You will need a vice block, a torque wrench, and an armorer's wrench to put the upper together. The process is really quite simple.

Ok, so should I get a parts kit for the upper?  I'm hoping the barrel has a hole already for the gas block

The gas port hole will already be drilled.

Buy an $80+- complete assembled upper, you'll need a gas block/gas tube/ handguard/flash hider.

On most of my uppers these days I prefer a rifle length free float handguard and use a rail mounted front sight. That negates needing to use a railed gasblock and a barrel nut/delta ring combo.

I can buy a complete assembled upper without a barrel?

Sure, I usually get my uppers from Aero Precision, and if you want, they offer assembled versions...

You can live in Timbuktu if you have the internet.
Gun shows and dealers around here account for only 25% of what I buy.

So this rifle I want to build. I have a yhm 20 " barrel. Is there a certain dimension I need to fit the barrel. If I get the rifle length how will I know it will fit and same with the gas block. I need all the parts because I found someone who will assemble it for me. Does he need the bolt for the upper? The barrel says m4 feed ramps. I was going to get a lower that is assembled also so it will go together nicely

Do I need a receiver and a hand guard? I already have a gas tube and a flash hider. I'm just going to have this company put it all together so I know it's don't right. The barrel is m4 style feed ramps. So what do I need for them to complete the upper. It's a 20" barrel so if I do the free floating one I need the right length right and a receiver?

13"-15" free float handguard
low profile gas block - unless you ordered a lightweight/superlightweight barrel the barrel and gas block SHOULD be .750" in diameter, industry standard for 99% of the barrels on the market
complete upper receiver with M4 feedramps ( almost an industry standard these days)

On your flash hider it , it needs to be .30 caliber , which is normally 5/8"x24 threads.

You don't need the bolt for assembly, but you will eventually need one to shoot the upper.

Barrel threading says 1/2"-36 same with the flash hider from yhm

As long as they're the same you're all set, the 7.62x39 barrels I bought last month are 5/8"

Make sure it is not a 5/8-24 muzzle thread, as this is a standard type thread pattern for calibers larger than .223/5.56mm in a AR platform.
Although, YHM does make some unusual TPI thread patterns, so it is very possible it is a 1/2-36 TPI muzzle threading for their barrels.

(ETA: just checked and yes it is a 1/2-36 TPI thread pattern on their x39mm barrels [It does not make much sense for a .30 cal bore, but
thats what they in fact use]).

UTG Pro free float quad rails are a good quality USA made rails and are very reasonable in price...BTE also makes some high quality
gas blocks and are made in Arizona, Aero Precision does make good quality upper receivers for the money as well...

Don't forget to get a enhanced firing pin and a extra power hammer spring for use with steel cased and surplus ammo...

Good Luck.

Would the utg hand rails thread right into a yhm receiver? I may go that route to save some money as long as they are compatible

They make a few different models/variations some with a Included barrel nut and some that use a standard mil-spec AR-15 barrel nut.
They now also make a slim/ultra light weight version as seen in the link below:

Below is the basic UTG Pro quad rail below (It uses a standard mil-spec. barrel nut).
