If JP yellows are probably causing light strikes with good new excellent ammo (Xtac)..

Ive heard of combinations of both red and yellow springs... what are those?

Or maybe just swap the hammer spring only?

Spikes NIB Milspec trigger.

do you have a high speed hammer?

if not you can cut your hammer down to be just like a high speed hammer that could fix your problem.

Be sure the springs are installed correctly.  Pictures would be helpful...

Already has KNS pins installed.

Took this a long time ago.. you can kinda see the spring orientation.

Looks properly oriented from what I can tell...

but you do not have a high speed hammer. trim that sucker up and that should do ya.

right from jp's site

Note: Use of this spring kit requires the use of US manufactured (domestic) ammunition or reloads with domestic (non-NATO spec) primers as ignition reliability will be reduced with hard low sensitivity primers as found in made foreign made ammunitions and NATO specification ammunition. Use these parts only in rifles for recreational or competition shooting

im betting that ammo is hard primers.

Ill swap the hammer spring for a milspec in the mean time.. where can I get a speed hammer for a single stage FCG?
Thanks for the help.

Compare your hammer spring with the 18th post down, from the original post, to verify if your spring is correctly installed.

This would definitely be an improvement. I personally prefer the Red JP 3.5T hammer spring over the weaker 3.5 Yellow spring.

This has been my experience as well.  About the only thing that made my yellow set work was a JP Speed hammer (bobbed hammer) and even that set up had issues with hard primered ammo.

IMO the Enhanced Reliability (red hammer and yellow or gold trigger) is the route to go.

Interesting ... was your original setup the Spikes NIB trigger shooting XTac 5.56?

I took a new rifle out last week and tried the exact same combo ... light strikes about 50% of the time.  I like the feel of the trigger, but is this a common problem with the Spikes trigger set?

I use the ALG ACT trigger with a red and yellow set of springs from jp in multiple rifles without a single failure to fire.  I only use pmc bronze 223, lake city xm855, or Hornady 75 grain tap though.

I made the mistake of putting a Timney in one of my rifles so now I want to switch them all out for Timney's

Hammer spring in backwards?

Sheepishly ... yes, I am an idiot.  I swear I checked when I had the light strikes last week, but it was freezing ass cold and windy and I must not have looked closely.

I felt like such an idiot I almost didn't post ... but in fairness, it was my fault.  Just ran 20 rounds through it with no issues...

Thanks!!

Thanks for making me look again.  I'd been through all different possibilities, sure that I had checked that when we were out shooting the other day.  I went out to the shop today thinking "no way, ..." - sure enough, when I pulled the upper ... there it was...

Thanks
