Thanks to these forums, I now have my own custom built AR-15 rifle. Note this is just my first attempt and will be changing some of the parts that need it. (ie trigger guard & charging handle) Excuse the pix, as they were shot with my phone. I will try and post better ones when I get a new camera.

This is a CMMG/RRA VTAC that I built this past spring. It is perched on a RRA Lower reciever with a 14.5" 1/7 twist barrel, with a perm Phantom break/hider attached to make it 16". It is a Mid length Gas system with a Low pro block, 13" JP VTAC Handguard, Magpul MBUS Sights, Magpul MOE Grip, and a TLR-1 Light ran at 12' and an Ace SOCOM stock along with an OSOE Bungie sling. Since the pic I've added an Aimpoint Micro, and swapped to a lighter stock! She has ran well for me all summer in training, classes and various Matches. I'm pleased with her!

Its a Noveske Lower, with a Palmetto State Armory LPK in it, Magpul MOE grip and Trigger guard in it. The Upper is a 16" Light Recce, Double Chrome Lined, 1/7 twist CHF Barrel, with a Mid Length Gas System and a PWS Break. The upper came with Troy Industries BUIS, as well as the 13" VTAC handguard, and a Troy Sling. I've added a Surefire 951, the Trijicon 1-4X Accupoint (those mounts are about to go this week when the others come in for it), and some rounds down the pipe! This setup shoot like a DREAM! I have had nothing but good to say about Noveske from the begining of dealing with them! They are a great company and I'll be fine if I only bought from them from now on! First Configuration (TLR-1 and Iron sights along until the Trijicon came in!) and one of my GO bags! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs580.ash2/150238_289154169949_500614949_1156330_5934815_n.jpg Outdoor shot! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs570.ash2/149279_289455259949_500614949_1161907_1266636_n.jpg |

There was a bit of a learning curve to overcome at first. . .
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l565/sdailey5/lowerbuild.jpg I managed to get this far in only about an hour and a half. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l565/sdailey5/completelower.jpg Mwahahahaha! http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l565/sdailey5/buffer.jpg The list thus far is: Spikes lower G&R Tactical LPK KNS Pushbutton Takedown Pins Spikes ST-T2 Heavy Buffer Magpul CTR Magpul Miad In a box in my closet I have: BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 Spikes Hard Chrome BCG Surefire Z70 Ladder Rail Covers Magpul AFG Magpul MBUS front and rear with Meprolite tritium front post On order: 16" Daniel Defense Midlength upper with 12" Omega X rail and CHF 1:7 bbl (ordered from smartgunner.com for $499 sale) just wishing that it wasn't taking so long to build and ship. Hopefully I can get it all together and have myself a proper rifle. But this being my first build and all (and first AR) I think all things are going pretty well considering my noobiness. |

Wow, thought I was reading my own post!!!! I'm in the same exact situation, ordered the same thing from smartgunner, my first AR too, and basically first real firearm. So much coincidence. Ordered late last month. Don't worry, was told directly by Daniel Defense that it takes 3-4 weeks for build/ship. And some pics so I'm not thread jacking too much: http://members.cox.net/hks/AR.jpg |

Guess now I have to paint on "LAZER" on my safety switch. The only real question now is what color of lazer should I shoot? haha
To be fair though, if you do a "stormtrooper blaster" image search on google, you'll see that their blasters are pretty much all black; just their armor is black/white. I'll confess that my main influence was seeing the white rags wrapped around the guns in the movie Red Dawn. That and just wanting to do something different. Prosit! |
