It's from Young Manufacturing, the same company that makes really nice chrome n/m bcg's. It's the rifle length free float model. I like it a lot and it has two threaded holes on the front underside for a bipod mount

The M4 is for fighting my way back to the 1911.
 I'm finishing up the M4, then I'll be going back for a few mods and upgrades to the 24". The next month or so should see the completion of the carbine with a LaRue Tactical UDE VFG, a MagPul ASAP Sling Adaptor & MS2 Single Point Sling, a MagPul QD Sling Mount for the ACS Stock (so I can switch between slings), an ambidextrious safety, and that should take care of it. Eventually I plan to toss a comp on it instead of the flash hider, and I may snag up one of those nifty Wilson Combat tactical triggers. I haven't really figured out exactly what else I want to do to my 24", but I know it won't be much. Sling, and who knows from there.

This is my new build, the first one I have completly built from scratch. I have just some minor tinkering and it will be off to the range. I started this project on 1 JAN 09 and it was a lot of fun. I would like suggestions for both back up sights (Not sure how much i like these yet) and a red dot sight.

My intention with this build was to:
keep it simple keep it light keep it plastic I thought about titling this "Am I turning into a Magpul fanboy?" after looking at the picture. Specs: BCM 14.5" carbine upper with perm FH Denny's Super Duty M16 BCG CMT charging handle Troy BUIS Magpul MOE handguard Magpul MVG ElZetta light mount Surefire G2 with Malkoff M60 Stag Arms lower RRA LPK Magpul trigger guard Magpul MOE grip Magpul PMAG Vltor receiver extension H2 buffer Magpul CTR stock GG&G single point sling adaptor I am waiting on EOTech to come out with the EXPS. AR#4 is ready to engage the Zombie hoards at extreme range.
I wanted a compact AR that could get out to 500 yards and still be easy to pack around all day. In addition, I needed a barrel that resisted POA shift if it got hot. I finished the upper a couple of weeks ago. Assembled the lower today. For the record, I received excellent service from AR Performance. The barrel is an AR Performance 16" 1/8 twist, 5R rifling Wylde chamber midlength. It's .840 under the tube. The barrel is nitro-carburized The gas block is the YHM mini block for those keeping score. The bolt is the heavy-duty 9130 ARP bolt that came matched to the barrel. The tube is a Clark Custom carbon fiber tube. The upper receiver is a no-name from Del-Ton The mount is Larue. The scope is the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x. The lower is one of the last Cavalry Arms MKII made before they ceased production of them. The trigger is by ZM  The fully loaded weight was a big surprise. Weight was not a consideration when I was designing the gun. I wanted a lighter varmint/precision gun but I didn't think it would come in this light.  Bring on the Zombies/coyotes/and any manner of varmint! |

My main carbine as it is currently configured:
RRA lower with star selector BCM upper and BCG DD pencil profile 14.5" with pinned Saylors Machine Phoenix Magpul foliage ACS with enhanced pad, ASAP, MBUS rear, MOE PG, HG and TG One of eringobragh's stubby VFGs used as a handstop EOTech XPS2-0 with GG&G flip-up objective covers Boonie Packer 2P-TQA sling set up as a 1/2 using the ASAP and a handguard loop Not much left to do - I'm waiting for the release of the new MOE Illumination Kit so I can mount my Streamlight TLR-1. I may also swap this lower out for one of my new AGP Arms ones and use the RRA for something else. |

My wife's birthday present, and my second AR build, first time trying painting:
I was going for small, light, simple, reliable and trying to keep the cost down. It originally had backup irons, but she didn't like the front sight in the way of the dot. Off it came –– whatever, it's just a plinking gun. She picked the colors, calls it "mall camo". Duracoat OSHA purple, Sako green, and desert mint. Armalite 16" M4 upper (on sale during Christmas), One of the cheap Sharps lowers, Armalite LPK, Rock River trigger, H3 buffer left over from my AR10 build, Magpul furniture, Bushnell T-dot sight. |
