Traded for an Acog now I don't know what gun to put it on

I got a fancy new optic for my rifle.

[Last Edit: nlvmike] [#5]

Built myself one (top), and my wife liked it so much she had to have her own. She got very specific in what she wanted. Fortunately, I had a lot of Black Friday deal parts on the table, so it worked out well. She wanted it grey and black, and she named it Wrigley. (don't ask me why)

Her build is;
Cerro forge 80% lower
Cerro forge Nickel Teflon blem upper from RTB
Nickel Teflon Charging handle
Nickel Boron FCG and lower parts kit from RTB
Nickel Boron BCG from RTB
Faxon 14.5" Gunner barrel with YHM flash hider
AAC squaredrop handguard
MFT Minimalist stock

This is my first complete build, on my others I just bought the uppers and built the lowers.

Build List:

Upper: Aero Precision
Lower: SOTA Billet lower
Barrel: Nordic Components .223 Wylde 18in SPR profile 1:8 twist
BCG: Fail Zero M16 NiB-Exo
LPK: Enhanced LPK from a LGS, JP trigger kit, Magpul grip, Strike Industries mag release and bolt catch
Stock: UTG A2 Stock kit
Rail: Geissele Mk4 13in
Flash Hider: A2 birdcage for now, trying to decide on which one to buy.

All that is left is an Optic and mount. I'm likely going with the Primary Arms 4-14 ACSS, but I'm considering their 1-6, as well as the Vortex Viper PST 1-4.

Already pic whored this a little, but since barely anyone has this handguard....

Upper:
Aero Precision Upper
Centurion CMR MLOK
BA Hanson Nitride 16" .750 (26oz)
BA pinned/Set Screw GB
Spikes Nitride mid-length gas tube
BCM Mod4 CH
KAC 200-600M Micro Rear Sight
DD Fixed Front Sight
PSA Premium HPT/MP No-Logo BCG
Trijicon MRO / ACOG TA31
VTAC  mount / Streamlight
Magpul QD sling swivel on handguard

Lower
Aero Precision Lower
Peep n Bones Geissele SSA-E
Tom's Tactical 7075 RE, Carbine Buffer
Milspec endplate (mounting sling to endplates sucks!)
BFG VCAS sling attached directly to stock, mounting to qd sucks! This is so much more steady! Try it!
Magpul CTR Stock
Magpul MOE grip
PSA LPK

Usually loaded with ADI 69 SMK ( . )( . ) (Dat Accuracy Doe)

Pending:
-a scout (SF or arisaka/malkoff) or x300 to mount in front of DD, but honestly I've had a couple of these streamlight polytacs for a couple years and beat them up pretty good and they have been g2g, so that would mainly be for more privilege. I also carry a Allen wrench in the grip that can detach the light and use it as a handheld which can be kinda handy.
-dbal

Inside grip:
Boresnake
Lube packet
2 optic batteries
Allen Wrench for MRO/vtac
$40

I know everyone has their own preference for sling mounting and it's taken me years (literally) of futzing around to get this right - once you try this you won't go back. The sling never binds up behind the stock when shouldering, unlike most other methods. It doesn't twist up, and it hangs much tighter against your body when slung, front or back. QD socket on rear stock is aids. It really is a huge difference.

I don't see myself going away from the BA Hanson barrels anytime soon.  Other profiles seem kinda dumb for a general purpose rifle in comparison; .625 14.5 hanson build:

My project for the year was triplets. And a half eventually.

All are built with Seekins upper and lower recievers, ALG LPK, Spikes HPT/MPI BCG, BCM buffer tubes and gunfighter stocks.

I'm waiting on my tax stamp for the one on the top. It has a Geissele SD-E trigger, 12" Seekins MCSR v2 hand guard, EOTech 512 and MI BUIS. When the stamp comes back this upper will get a Noveske 8.5" 300 Blackout barrel and a SD Tactical brake. I'm planning to do a second upper in the same basic configuration except with a 14.5" FN barrel in 5.56, Aimpoint Pro and Magpul Pro offset BUIS. For now this lower has a Spikes T2 Buffer. I've got a second form 1 in to build a 30 cal suppressor out of titanium SD Tactical tube/parts with stainless baffles machined from JMPF cups that I'll swap between the two uppers.

The middle one is mostly the same as above with an FN (M249 spec) 16" mid barrel in 5.56, SJC Titan Comp, Geissele SSA-E trigger, Vortex Strike Eagle and the Pro off set BUIS. This one has the standard weight JP silent captured spring buffer.

The bottom one is mostly the same as above with a PSA 18" rifle gas, 1:7 twist, 223 Wylde cambered barrel that I may eventually swap for another 18" that's a little nicer than the PSA. The hand guard is a 15" BCM KMR. Same Geissele SSA-E trigger, standard weight JP silent captured spring buffer, SJC Titan comp and Pro off set BUIS. The optic is a Leupold Mk4 MR/T 2.5-8x36 with the illuminated mil dot.

This is my Crusader build.  I have made some updates.  Stay vigilant.  Our way of life is under attack.  Will probably dip the M855's that go in this magazine in bacon grease.   That way when the pig is spitting, it will keep them from their virgins.

POF Charging Handle!

I built the rifle about 2 years ago and got the BRD! Just got through building the 300BO pistol and sighting it in last week. Got some rail sections coming so I can move that light down lower somewhere. The pistol shoots sweet! Killed two nice bucks with the rifle so far this year. Going to try the pistol on deer now.

Eta I rebarreled that rifle to a Faxon Gunner 18" recently. It is light and sweet shooting! The original 16" barrel had issues and was keyholing after 1400 rounds.

ETA, got my rail and QD in also a grip storage kit. I like this setup a lot more now!

Ya, There is just something about that beast that I like, but I cant quiet pin point it.  It must be the KAC rail and the Geissele Optic mount and the Vortex Razor.  Not the stock. Its just not for me but overall that is a nice rifle.

Thought I would share my middy build.

I appreciate all the information everyone has shared, discussed, showed, etc......it has helped me make decisions on what to get and tips on how to put together.
Thanks!

So my build is a 5.56 Mid-length system:
PSA Stripped Blem Lower
PSA MOE LPK
PSA ACS-L STOCK KIT standard buffer
PSA Upper
PSA 16" A2 Profile Freedom Barrel 1:7 Nitride M4 Extension
Midlength Gas Tube
Low profile gas block
A2 Birdcage
Standard Bolt Carrier Group (Carpenter 158 Bolt)
Standard Charging Handle
Magpul MBUS Sights
Lightweight 13.5" Keymod Hand Rail
Total weight: 6lbs 14oz

Haven't shot it yet but am happy so far!  I think it has a good feel for me.  Certainly not a Noveske or LWRCI but also didn't have the price tag of one either.
Cost as it sits.....$548.00.  (Yes includes shipping, FFL etc....)

You're quite welcome.

I appreciate the kinds words as well.  There are a lot of people in the KAC thread that just have good ideas and are patient enough to implement them properly.

Today, I pulled all the taupe furniture off the gun and replaced with black.

Noveske gen1/SSA/Razor HD-LH 3-15x42/18" CLE intermediate gas barrel is proving to be a good shooter for me.

Hi,
My name is Gino and I've been reading the threads on this site for years but just recently joined.  Ive been lucky enough to have been shooting ar/m16 style rifles for over 20 yrs.  This is my first post and my first build.
I went budget on some parts and plan to upgrade the trigger, extension tube and buffer/spring and add an optic soon.  As is,  weighs just under 6 lbs.  I was also able to get a few Aero lowers for $55 each so I have a few waiting to go and i bought a Mega matched billet upper/ambi lower set.
I think the mega will be my next build.
Thanks to all of you guys who post info on this site and help us all learn more.

Ballistic Advantage 16" Premium SS Hanson Profile .223 Wylde
