Looking at this scope. Has anyone used it in close quarter? I mean like 10-25 yards. How quick would it be to get on target?

I have 1000's of round's under that scope and last year my son "bored" it for his AR and a competition at our local club. He beat me using the Nikon P-223 3X Carbine scope for the first time. The 32 mm obj. gives you excellent filed of view and allowed him to get hits at 200 yards and the 3 tactical stages  that are 15-50 yards. Very easy to bring the scope to battery and make an accurate shot.

As a FYI- This scope is under a Promo thru Nikon's Authorized Dealer's until tomorrow 3/25/15. Buy the scope and get a FREE P-Series Mount.
In case you were wondering, I ended up buying another P-223 3X scope for myself. I do like the M-223 1-4 as well. I'll take all the magnification I can get when shooting 200 yard swinging targets.

A lighted reticle makes it easier and faster to track the reticle at speed when ranges are short. You can be pretty quick with practice though, it all depends on what you're doing. Just as an idea, check this out http://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_2_5X_Compact_Scope_PAC2_5X_p/pac2.5x.htm

+1 for P-223. Great quality for a great price. Plus the spot-on BDC software that Nikon has where you can type in all your data to get accurate BDC for you certain setup.

Thanks for the +, Smith! I agree, Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program is incredibly accurate. Of course as with any program the more accurate the information you enter the more accurate the results.
My old man eye's just aren't good enough to shoot past 200 yards without more magnification then 3X. I have used my P-223 3-9 BDC 600 and Spot On to blow up soda cans at 400 and 500 yards and 4 inch jars of tannerite at 600.
The Promo that ends today is always one of Nikon's biggest of the year. Getting the free mount is just like getting $50 off the scope. Pretty great for a sub-$200 optic.
Post some pics of your rig when you gett he chance Smith.

I actually sold my P-223 3-9x40mm scope to my buddy who really wanted a nice scope. I also benefited because it wanted to change the setup of my carbine to a more close quarters setup. The scope was a little too bulky for me on a small carbine setup. Not saying that it is too bulky for everyone! I decided to throw on the Aimpoint Micro T-1 on a LaRue Tactical QD 1/3 co-witness mount.

But here is a picture of my pea-shooter.

Thanks for all the insights guys, I went to look at that scope and I really liked it. However, I think I'm going with a 3-9x40. I think it will fit my POU better.

You can also peel that "P-223" sticker off of the scope if you want the complete sleek black look.

I just purchased a P-223 3-32 and really like it, very bright and clear.  I zero'd at 50 yds and had a very decent group (for me).  Ran the target out to 100 yds (indoor range) and fired another very nice group that was approx 6" high from POA.  Any ideas why this would happen?  The ballistic charts I've looked at all show the group should be about 1.5" high for a 50 yd zero.  I don't think my reloaded  ammo is that hot.....  I am planning on shooting over my chrony the next time I'm there to confirm velocities, but this seems strange to me.  Any thoughts?

Range update... 10 shot avg was 2968 fps.  The rd is a 55gn winchester SPBT over H-335.  The Nikon Spot-On program says it should be 1.35" high @ 100 yds, which is similar to what I had previously read using a different program.  Still looking for thoughts / suggestions....

OK, I solved my mystery... and as usual, I'm the problem!  There were a few pre-existing holes on the backstop that I assumed were mine, and that I was shooting high, when I was looking 100 yds downrange through my spotting scope.  A second trip to the range, and shooting at a clean backstop revealed all 20 rds on the target in about a 3-1/2" group and slightly high, just like they were suppose to be.  I don't have access to a 300 yd range but I suspect the BDC marks will do the job if needed.
