I plan on ordering a RMW upper in 45ACP, but am hung up on WHICH lower to order. HELP, guys...I need informative info on what's out there. Thanks, guys... Didn't think I'd see the day, but you can finally add DDLES to the list of optional lowers for a 45auto conversion. |

Just right carbines in NY has a .45, .40S&W, and 9mm carbines available. The 45 version was at my LGS today, its cool, it is blowback and uses its own upper that shares very little with an AR.
Uses glock mags, but they have a 1911 mag version. |

I recieved a couple of these lowers & they are all set up. The only issue I had is the bolt stop. Depending on upper it may contact the carrier. Took a little off the bolt stop & they work perfect now. Just a heads up. |

Ron, do the bolts for your DI 45s work on 458Socom also?

I'm not refuting what you're telling me, just makes me wonder what kind of bolt DDLES had in mind for this setup. I have some great pics of this complete with Ron's upper using a MUR1A...it's sweet...I'll get them up soon. |

I posted this in a review that will eventually get archived, so I thought I’d put this detail of the magazines in the conversion thread.
For the magazines to work with a direct impingement upper on the DDLES Glock Large Frame lower, the follower needs to be trimmed for the bolt to be held open on the last round. Otherwise between extraction and ejection of the last round, the bolt will get hung up on the top of the follower. You only need to do this to factory Glock magazines and not the Korean aftermarket ones (far right). Then you’re good to go… |

hi everybody,I'm new to the site as I just stumble apon it last night. The info on here is great so I figured you would be the people to ask about a 10mm AR build I want to do. I want to know it this will work or if I am heading down the wrong path.
DPMS lower A2 buffer set up with Ace skeleton stock...stock buffer and spring DPMS slickside upper 6.8 spc bcg 14" barrel with pinned FH ( to keep it legal length) carbine length gas tube with adj gas block Diamondhead VRS-T 13.5" free float HG Will this work? |
|
|
You'll need to ditch the carbine gas tube......gas system is gonna be way shorter than that.....were you going with the adjustable gas block to use it as a suppressor host to turn off the gas?
Also what Magazine do you plan on feeding it with? And I'd go with a Samson Evolution......it'll accomodate just about ANY length gas system from a standard rifle to a super short custom. It is almost like they designed it for people do ing screwy stuff with custom builds |

Sent you an email.......Upper runs flawlessly....but the magwell adaptor is still giving a few fits......I'll see if I can get a pic or two up though... and you are spot on on the CASV that is an awesome handguard......coupled with the HK sights you supplied.....it will get duplicated for a personal gun eventually...of course the list of unstarted personal builds is about as big as I am fat....

I'm still debating on which route I want to go with making the pieces. My biggest three options are: get plastic injection molds done for the parts, buy a 3d printer and print the parts myself, or contract a 3d printer place out and get them printed. I just need to get the files cleaned up to get quotes done from a few places to see which would be more economical for myself and my customers to keep the price down as much as possible. I also have to redraw the floor plate up as the file I had either got corrupted or refuses to load correctly because when I pull it up, nothing shows up. ETA: And guess what. I didn't write any of my stuff down on the last rendition of the floor plate I made, so I'll basically be starting from scratch.. again.. |

GG mags. I remove the outer skin, squeeze down a little to fit in lower & mod the follower.

Looking to buy a CAV Lower to run GG mags with the Hahn mag block, but would like to run DI instead of blowback. A few questions:
1. Does anyone sell .45acp DI bolt/barrel combos so I can build everything myself, or am I going to need to buy this as a completed upper? 2. If I can buy the bolt and barrel separately, would it be easier to get reliable feeding with a lightweight (Spikes) bolt carrier and adjustable gas block? 3. With a DI .45acp upper, I understand that the gas block sits a lot closer to the receiver. Would there be room to run a mid length or rifle length Magpul handguard? |

Yes, send me an email at and I'll discuss with you.....normally better to get a complete upper as the propriatery gas system dose not accomodate all handguards on the market and some machining/fitting may be required. 2. Possibly the Bolt carrier might be useful......but as the gas system is unlike anything commercially available....the Spikes gas block is not really usable in a DI45. All the uppers I build come standard with an M16 bolt carrier. 3. Absolutely.....just need to know which so the front sight base can be located properly. I usually don't put them on as 90+% of what I build is a free float handguard using BUIS on the handguard. I don't like to pin sight bases to a .45 barrel. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any further questions. Ask Shel at GWACS Armory about my uppers if you are ordering direct from them...............;-) I am the recommended autohorized supplier for GWACS for Pistol caliber uppers. You will also need to modify the ejection port of the upper receiver for maximum reliability so access to a milling machine is advised. Attached is a pic of my personal Cav lower based AR45 |

I just put together one of the cnc lowers and not one of my GI GG mags will even come close to being able to be inserted in the mag well. I remember reading somewhere that they may need squeezing in a vice to get them to fit but I would have hoped that at least one of them would work without tweeking. Any suggestions.

View Quote I just checked my newest lower and have the same problem. The mags that fit my first CNC AR45 lower won't go in at all from the bottom. I put one in the vise (again) and squeezed it some more with no luck. The funny thing is that it is very tight, but they will insert from the top until they hang up in the same place at the bottom of the mag well. I am going to shoot Justin an email in the morning. Scratch all that. It occurred to me that the mags I was testing with might have been the Keep Shooting mags and they were. The old milsurp mags I also use in my first AR45 do fit in this new lower. Thank goodness I have a bunch of the originals. |
|
|
just a VERY light squaring up from front to rear will make them fit fine.....as soon as you eel pressure back off and they will be good to go.....

Yes...these are the single stack single feed USC mags from promag and that is a 20 round in the pic....they are decent mags...well constructed with steel feed lips molded in......and I was playing at work today....I mean doing Research and Development......and ran a box of Remmington hollow points through the old beater upper (the one with 20K plus rounds through it) and it ate 'em up and the bolt locked back when empty............. We shot an informational video last weekend taking an AR from shooting 5.56 ammo to changing the upper, installing the magwell and firing two mags of .45 ammo to demo the LRBHO in one continious shot....as soon as it is ready .....it is getting gussied up a bit ............................I'll post a link.
Rudy Here is the video of the original proof of concept test ....the adaptor in the video hasn't grown a last round bolt hold open yet.................it is actually made from scrap metal picked out of the scrap bin...... USC adaptor Proof of concept |

What's the typical AR barrel threading for 45acp? 5/8x24 or .578x24?
