I bought this one use a couple months ago.  Was extra clean when I bought it.  After firing about 500 rds and cleaning I noticed the firing pin collar was rather beat up.  Replaced the firing pin, but the collar was a bit larger in diameter.  Will this new firing pin work correctly?

Since no one knows the answer to the above question.  The larger collar firing pin works fine with a geissele 3 gun trigger.  I don't know about a stock hammer though.
200 rds and the firing pin isn't chewed up.

The notched hammer is what chewed up the old firing pin. Without it you won't see as much wear. But the hammer is still being partially cocked by the firing pin instead of entirely by the carrier.

Anyway, I really enjoy my SR556C and have over 10,000 rounds on it. It has been a bullet hose.

Why does Ruger use the open bolt carrier?

Concern over homemade full-auto conversion. Colt used to do the same thing.
