I finally received my Superlative Arms "bleed off" piston kit and got a chance to do this video. I will take it out next week to test fire and do some muzzle velocity studies to see if the bleed off has any negative effect on muzzle velocity.

Looking forward to part 2.

Thanks! Great information.

Got out to do the field test. The "bleed-off" system had minimal change in muzzle velocity and a little quieter with a suppressor compared to restriction adjustments.

Great two part series.  Really appreciate the part 1 disassembly showing the bleed off system mechanics.

Part 2 shows this system is probably a strong upgrade for someone who shoots suppressed often.  Finally, less gas to the face, which of course is a problem even with most piston systems.  Should also result in less fouling in the receiver.

My only suggestion for part 2 is it probably would have helped to include restrictive vs bleed off velocity readings when suppressed too.

Ever think about running the same test with the DI bleed off version as a comparison?

Yes I have a DI gas block to test and review. When I field test the DI gas block I will try to remember to take out the piston upper to check velocity with the suppressor, restriction vs bleed-off. I'll include that information in the DI gas block video. Suppressed piston and DI velocities, restriction vs bleed-off, got it. Thanks!
