thinking about a piston build with my tax return.

was thinking of a MGI/windham quick change barrel upper

issue with that being the suspended piston system above the barrel.

any long stroke kits available?

this would allow for the piston system to remain with the upper as I am swapping barrels out.

I know pws uses long stroke, but to my knowledge they only sell complete uppers these days.

A small company called hydra-fire is making a retrofit kit. Apparently according to the owners, they've been working on it for a while now as they have full time jobs aside from it.

Looks interesting as they just released the pdf for what the system will look like.

from the diagram part 4828-1 appears to be a shortened gas tube which appears to be for use in conjunction with the piston kit (unless i am misreading the diagram)

a fragile gas tube above the barrel, attached to the gas block might not be what I am looking for (prone to warping/crushing during a barrel change)

but looking good none the less

I have spoke to the two guys of hydra fire and they told me that's it's a retrofit kit. So it will be their tube/piston that should drop in to any carbine (mid and rifle will come later). They have an Instagram account. Looks promising.
