I am trying to make a decision. I am building another left handed 5.45x39 AR clone.

I have a couple left handed DPMS bolts and 1 left handed Stag arms modified to shoot  5.45x39

I got a great deal some months ago on a barrel and a Adam's piston kit

I have a lead on a DPMS receiver (although I have modified a standard Right handed receiver before to use the DPMS bolt by cutting a ejection port on the other side and closing off the right handed one)

I am parting a Stag LH upper so I have that receiver .

tying to decide If I go with the DPMS I can use the 1 pc Carrier that came with the kit.

or to  build the stag since but it uses a proprietary carrier I would have attach a piston carrier key which I already have as well.

logic says the 1 pc carrier is way stronger and there is no weak point its one pc.

I think I would prefer to the stag but that key takes quite the beating I know some of the very early Piston systems had this problem

so is this no long a issue I hope to hear from guys who have put thousands of rounds on the 2 pc carriers or if any body had heard of any recent 2 pc failure's

thanks

No screws breaking on mine. After building my second AA kit and seeing the nice one piece carrier that came with the kit it was a no brainer ,  i up graded my old kit to a one piece. A new one piece is $100 on AA web sight but i would call them or email Cody on the AA forum here first and tell them you want to upgrade to a new carrier, they may give a discount.

How many rds did you have on it before switching?

the one pc is not an option with Stag Left handed unless I go with CMMG which I also have in .223 but wanting to use what parts i have.

1 pc or 2 pc carrier? most model 8s come with a 1 pc I thought?

I know the 1 pc is solid its the 2 pc I am questioning
