Does anyone know if the Midwest Industries SS-Series, M-Lok or Keymod handguards (drop-in types) are compatible with the SL?  I really like the Magpul OEM handguards, but I'm just looking for the information in case I want something a little different.  Can't get MI to answer my e-mail queries.

Don't wanna really steer off topic here but have you seen some of the custom LWRC SL's that Modern Outfitters did up? Jon over there would be able to answer that question with one phone call to them given they did a lot of custom SL's and also even had a thread on the LWRC boards on what and what rails would fit the M6A2's. They would definitely know what handguards will work on there (Jon) specifically if you gave him a call at Modern Outfitters. I remember at one point I was gonna pick up those ealier LWRC's that used to have the A-Frame gas blocks (the ones prior to the SL's) but I was never able to come around to getting a 10.5" version (Brand New Unused one) so I ended up going a different direction with my build. LWRC does make a fine gun for sure though. I had a few PSD's and UCIW's before I went the HK way. Honestly I still like both very much though and wouldn't mind picking me up an IC-PDW.

I hand fit a Fortis FEV rail to a LWRC SL. I shaved the FSB while it was still mounted to the barrel. Required some work but I liked the end result. Did a video review of this mod.    https://youtu.be/xBFOwJKsz4E

Yep, saw it.  Very nice.  I just want to know about the MI offerings.

I just looked at my MI keymod free float rail. The inside clearance is .52" under the top rail. The LWRC piston cup is .50" so you have .01" clearance for both sides. Will be close but should work. You just have to get the length of the hand guard right. You will have to remove and replace the FSB if you do not want to shave it and cover it with the hand guard. Where you thinking about shaving and covering the FSB? If so should work with less effort than the Fortis. The Fortis inside clearance was .50". If you were thinking about leaving the A2 fixed FSB then you would have to remove the FSB every time you wanted to access the piston cup area.

The handguards I am inquiring about are not free-float.  They are drop-in, to be used with A2 front sights without modification.

midwest industry handguards are NOT compatible with the m6-sl.

The m6-sl comes with a ROUND handguard end cap and midwest industry mid-length drop in handguards require TRIANGLE end caps.

The best option you have is to shave the fsb down and get a samson evolution.

The ads on the web-site don't appear to have long guns with triangle caps.

that's because the ads are wrong and misleading.

EDIT: Also, which ads are you talking about.  The picture on the midwest industries website shows a CARBINE length handguard on the rifle.  M6-SL has a MID-LENGTH gas system and requires that length hand guard.  The industry standard end caps for carbine length is round.  There is no industry standard for mid-length, but GENERALLY mid-length's came with triangle end caps, however LWRC always has to be different to screw their customers over.

You're absolutely right!  I just assumed that the carbine gas system HG caps and the mid-lengths were the same.  Got confirmation on this from MI today.

Does anyone know if the Vltor CASV will work with the m6a2?
