I am extremely happy with my new Barrett. Impressed with build quality and function.

Optics: Trijicon TA31H-68 ACOG.  NOTE: Note: The ACOG was moved significantly back after the picture above was taken. Now have approximately 3" Eye Relief.
Mods: Replaced the Magpul MOE stock with a Magpul PRS. Installed Atlas BT-10 Bipod. Installed CTK Precision P3 Ultimate Monopod.
Barrell Break-in and maintenance with Modern Spartan Systems Accuracy Oil, carbon and copper destroyers.
Piston has suppressed/unsuppressed settings.  Will soon install SilencerCo Specwar Muzzle Brake ASR to accommodate a SilencerCo Omega once out of NFA jail.

Results after barrell break-in @ 200yds. (5 center and 5 around the clock)

Cheers,
Frank

Based on a 12” target, your 5 shot group is 1.1”.   That’s a hair over ½ MOA.
Negating your one flyer on your round the clock, those are a hair over ¼ MOA.
That’s pretty impressive with a 4x scope and horseshoe reticle.

Sweet rifle, I am considering adding the Barrett to my collection of piston rifles.

Nice gun and nice shooting.

I recently picked up a Rec7 Gen II in 5.56 off Gun Broker a while back.
Haven't got anything mounted on it yet.

I hope your 5.56 is a Gen II.  Big improvement over the original Rec7.
Once you put optics on it, you are in for a treat!  Best factory AR I've ever purchased!

I'm looking for stock of a new Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmore now. Delaying a purchase of a Barrett 98B 300 WInMag until I see whether the Ruger will meet my intended long range needs....for $1000!!

Cheers,
Frank

Wow. Didn't think that stuff was that accurate. I get great results from Sellier and Bellot 115g out of my Daniel Defense 6.8 barrel.

To be honest, I originally bought the American Eagle ammo primarily just to break in my new barrel. The price was right from Lucky Gunner, and I figured I would move on to some other range round once my barrel was stable.

That being said, I was VERY surprised at the consistency and accuracy of the Federal range ammo. Enough so that I have recently purchased an additional load of the same rounds. Muzzle Velocity, once the barrel was seasoned, was very consistent with variation never exceeding 30 FPS at the outside, and Standard Deviation down to 9.  I now don't feel the necessity to go searching for a factory round to use on the range. I've found it....at least for me. Others may have differing results.

As an aside, I have become a total convert to the Modern Spartan Systems Accuracy Oil, Carbon, and Copper destroyers, and their new grease. I was a skeptic, thinking that the hype was like the old engine oil additive infomercials, but the results for me were undeniable for MV, Accuracy, and easier cleaning.
Check them out at ModernSpartanSystems.com.  It's voodoo that really works! The proof is in the pudding!

I will eventually be reloading 6.8 "kill" rounds, but haven't yet determined what bullet to use, though I'm leaning towards Hornady A-Max.

Cheers,
Frank

The pic below was after conditioning the barrel, and shooting from the bench, and in various standing and kneeling positions at 300yds, including rapid fire.  Really happy with this rifle and ammo!  The BDC on the 6.8 Trijicon ACOG was dead-on accurate as well.

I reload using 110g V Max's and AA2200 powder. Very good combo.
Have been wondering about the 6.8 ACOG. Glad to hear the BDC is on for it. May ask the wife for one for Christmas.

The horseshoe reticle is a little different if you've never used one, but very easy to get used to...and with both eyes open. I have the red tritium reticle which is fine for me, but they offer green and amber versions for the 6.8 as well. Best price I found was on one of my favorite online sites. BHPHOTOVIDEO.com   You just can't place an order with them on Fridays! (Orthodox Jews) Outstanding prices, service, and quick shipping. All perfect.

The ACOG is best zeroed using the center dot at 50Yds. Then, reaching out to 100, you use the top of the horseshoe for aim (bullet is still rising).  At 200, you're back to the center dot with results as shown in my original post. BDC ranges on the reticle are clear and easily read, and go out to 800.

Our local range has a 600 meter long-range, and I'll be pushing the limits of the Rec7 on it in a week or so to see what the rifle will do at 400, 500, and 600.  I expect nothing less than awesome!

Cheers,
Frank
