Hey guys!

So I was in a group buy a few months ago for some custom donkey show lowers. The safety selector reads "siesta" "fiesta" "donkey show".

I decided to do something truly ridiculous with this lower, so I used a leftover piston system and built a piston pistol 7.62x39. I had a bunch of leftovers that I used in this build, so all I had to buy was the lower (duh), the upper, the barrel, and the bolt.

I'm currently on the hunt for a ridiculous looking muzzle device that's low enough on top I'll still be able to get the gas plug out. I've got about ~.340" of clearance between the top of the bore and the bottom of the gas plug, so if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears!

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that it will cycle well, since the reason I had the leftover piston system was because by 300blk couldn't cycle it.

Can't help you with anything but that lower made me chuckle. Im glad I didn't see that group buy.

Not terribly silly looking, but there are some relatively small diameter flash cans.  You might be going to a Noveske Pig to get your piston to cycle anyway.

As an aside you mentioned not getting the piston to work with the 300BO.  The trick is AA's newer XLP system and their lightened carrier.  I have one that I built and it runs great, even subs without the can.  All about the better gas seal of the XLP and less mass to put into motion with the lightened components.  Thought you might like to know in case you decided to try again.  If you end up having issues with the Ruskie round the lighter carrier coould help there as well.

7.62x39 will not cycle reliably with Adams gas piston. You would need a pistol length gas system.

Couldn't you just open up the gas port some more to better ensure reliable cycling?

NOO!  That's terrible.  If that's the case, I'll just switch over to DI, and try and sell my piston parts.  It would leave me more room for a ridiculous muzzle device I suppose.  I guess I was just hoping that since it cycled 5.45x39 reliable, it would work with the 7.62x39.  Bummer!
