So I am very VERY close to adding a PWS MK220 to the family but I have a few things making me nervous.  I've emailed PWS's customer support but I thought I would ask my questions here as well and see what the fine citizens of arfcom have to say.

So I see and read lots of guys on here suppressing PWS rifles.  However, on the PWS faq page, it says that the mod 0 rifles are not recommended to be run suppressed.  Are the modern MK2 rifles mod 0 or a subsequent generation?  The only reviews I ever see indicating which mod a PWS is are MK1 reviews.  Here is the faq page

Second question:  Do the newer M3 Pmags really need to be filed to seat properly in the rifle?  Here it says they do

MK2s are the successive generation.
You can run a can without concern.

Can't speak to the Gen 3 Pmag issue, but why worry? You can find a ton of the older Gen 2s which run flawlessly and are available at discount.

Cool thanks for the info man.  I just placed my order :)

And I agree, Id be happy with the older Pmags if I wanted 20's but Id prefer 25 rounders but I thought they only came in the newer gen Pmags.

No... This is incorrect.

The Mk2XX is the large frame, .308 version.  They come in both Mod0 (non-free floated, fixed gas block) and Mod1 (free floated, adjustable gas block).

I believe the reference to operating suppressed to that you need the adjustable gas block on the current spec, Mod1 version.  If you're looking at a Mk220 (which means a 20" barrel) then it's a Mod1 as the Mod0's only offered a 16" as the longest barrel.

I can't speak to the PMag issue as I've only ever run the original .308 Pmags in mine (a Mk216, Mod0).

Yeah... But he's talking about the Mk220.  Is there even a Gen3 .308 mag?  I thought they just had the second gen .308 mags.

Nevermind... Just saw that was a Mk2

Ummm the MK216 and Mk220 use exactly the same lowers. As you can see in the picture I have a Mk216 with a Gen 3 308 mag. A quick Google search would show you that Magpul has had 25 round Gen 3 windows mags for about a year now.

Yeah... I just saw that you had that in a Mk2... I thought it was a Mk1 when I glanced at it.

Oops, I meant to write Mod1 not Mk2.
Is PWS even still making the Mod0?

Either way, he's good to run suppressed with the model he was evaluating.

pretty sure no more mod0 around unless you find one used. both the 5.56/MK1 and 308/MK2 use their adjustable gas block. Not sure about the DI rifles they sell... but these days I would be surprised if anyone is making a top tier gun that doesn't run at least acceptably with a can attached.

when I emailed PWS about my mod0, they didn't say not to suppress it. they just said that instead of adjusting with gas tube, you need to swap buffer/spring assembly.
