Howdy all.

I am working on a project gun (LW 3gun rifle that shoots as light as possible with the AA system) and thought I would share and look for advise. my goal is to use the AA gas block in the half gas position to reduce impulse for normal shooting, then have the full gas for fouled or weak ammo reliability.

my current setup is a 16" lw midlength barrel, lw AA system with lw AA BCG, lower has a buffer with the weights removed and a new action spring.  currently will cycle 3-4 rds of Fed .223 before short stroking and will not lock back the BCG on half gas, fires 100% with full gas.

so I am looking for any input on either increasing the gas volume slightly (increase gas port size or modify piston plug) or further reducing the recoil mass (buffer/BCG/spring).  anyone have ideas?

you might try a wolff reduced power action/buffer spring together with a taccom UL buffer

I have a suppressor and host that I use for local matches but travelling across state lines with NFA items gets to be a PIA.  during a test fire with this config and an AAC 762SD, it functioned fine but seemed to be unlocking early with a great amount of gas in the face.

There is no additional paperwork needed to travel with a suppressor. They do not require a 5320.20. Neat project.  Do you reload? I think that is the way to go. Build up your ammo so it is just enough to cycle on the 1/2 setting.
