I have a an Adams Arms Lite piston kit that I'm thinkingabout toying with. My other AA kit is the standard picatinny rail type. I bought this one because it is a little lighter, but I found online a pic that apparently shows a lightened version of a 0.625 AA piston kit. They basically cut out the center of the barrel band section, and pin it to the barrel instead.

See pic below.

Anyway, I was thinking of machining out the center section of the barrel band to look like the 0.625 version, and I want to drill/tap 4 additional set screws... 2 on the front and 2 on the back, off-set at about 30 degrees to the original center screws. This would give a total of 6 set screws to lock the gas block to the barrel, instead of only 3 inline screws like it has now. About the only concern I would have, is that adding 4 additional set screws may create a barrel band that is not as strong to handle the gas pressure

Has anyone ever tried this?

D&T for more screws is wasting your time. My 3 screw / stock block has been on for 3 years and no problem. I used red loctite on them. As you mentioned adding more holes to a limited area may cause issues. Since the integrity of the block is compromised. IF more screws were needed to keep it from moving, AA would have done so.
