This isn't a which is better thread, obviously the PWS is better. I'm wondering if it's almost 2x the price better. What all does the PWS do that the Sig doesn't?

I prefer the 5.56 PWS to anything because it is the lightest best balanced piston carbine on the market.

That may carry over to the MK2 series in theory but IMO (and I repeat IMO, meaning not a fact) when you enlarge the AR carbine to a beast of a rifle it is no longer an easy carry everywhere gun in a 308 version.
It is just too big and heavy to be an up caliber version of a carry carbine so in 308 it simply loses the point of being.

If I am going to have something that heavy because I want a 308 semi auto rifle it might as well be an SR25 or a Les Baer 308 sniper because once it weighs too much to lug around it might as well be extremely accurate and the SR25 and Baer are both way more accurate than any of the carbine 308 pistons, REPR included.

That said I had a Sig 716 and it was a great gun just too heavy for me.
I did not feel even having bought 4 MK114s the advantages of the PWS justified the extra money over the 716.
The MK114 is in the $300+ over the 516 and that I believe makes sense but an extra $1,000.00 for a MK2 over the 716; not IMO

I have the Mk 216 as well as a Mk116. I have no trouble carrying it around, I normally have a 2 pound Steiner optic on it as well. I decided to go with the 216 whilst I wait the 10 months for my GAP-10. So far I've used it from 30 yards to 600 yards, quite impressed with the accuracy. My only complaint is that for $2800 (got mine for $2500), it should come with something better than the crappy Magpul MOE stock, at least put a CTR on it.

I thought the same about the stock, a $50 stock on there just doesn't seem right. I have an ACS to put on either one though.

Any more opinions? Poll seems pretty 1 sided but I'd still like some more actual reasons why or why not.

I'm quickly becoming a PWS fan.  I've got the Mk 112 on an M16A1 lower and the thing is just outstanding.  Very accurate, full auto or semi, suppressed or not - it runs.  I have a LaRue PredatAR and decided on the PredatOBR for my second 7.62 platform (SCAR was the 1st).  Waited for about 18 months and finally threw in the towel last month.  I think the Mk2 will take it's place.  May not be quite the piece of kit but it's better than I'll ever be.  Matt

If you want extremely light and accurate you might as well go with the FN SCAR 17S.

I sold my SCAR17 (which I loved) to finance my MK216 purchase, much better rig for so many reasons:

1) ergonomics
2) pmags, soon to be 25 rounders
3) more accuracy due to stiffer barrel with less whip
4) if there is any weight difference I would need a gram scale to tell
5) parts (a SCAR spare parts kit is $500)
6) parts (the PWS system is so much simpler with so much less to fail)

Bottom line, SCAR is an excellent system, but as a work rig it's a costly nightmare to support
unless your employer is uncle sugar.......

Rumor is that Tavor may be developing a "Tavor Heavy" which will fire .308.
Looking forward to see if this actually comes to fruition.

If the .308 Desert Tech MDR turns out not to be vaporware, it would be the tavor "heavy" done right.  On topic I would say the "worth it"-ness of the purchase is entirely based on your finances (go pws, eat spaghettios).
