EDITED-- Thanks to all of you who helped me through this build  by answering my "newbie" questions,, and to many members here who were willing to
trade off some of their rare, coveted parts in exchange for some of my money.

Very nice Dan!  Love that lower! Gotta get me one! I know where that sight screw came from!  Great build! Just to drive you and TheStinger a little more part crazy y'all need a real dimpled mag catch release. Look at the beauty below! TheStinger made me go out and spend $150 on a C stock. The insanity!  No mater what you do you find you missed a small detail!

I think that I might have had some security issues, so I scrambled my photobucket account.
Give me a few days to regroup.

The carbon steel gas tube went in easier than I expected.

Unseen is an early buffer tube with no wrench flats, that is in almost unused condition.

Dimpled rear sight screw is a repro.

Looks good, Sling eyes weren't rubber coated yet, on the 2 original XM's  I have seen only one had one eyelet with coating. Was probably replaced at some point. It was on the buttstock,

Hmm my M VP with forged front sight had the rubber coating on it too. I'm wondering if that was an improvement that was included when they went from cast to forged FSBs

They are easily replaced and upgraded I'm sure just as the 3 prong fh was to the bird cage., My barrel is almost unused from a military depot that was in a corner collecting dust. I was LUCKY as hell to be gifted it as it was supposed to be disposed of long long ago. You can see how clean it is by the below pictures, and everything on it is as issued original. Just wish it would have had the gas tube with it. Oh well gift horse wishing, none the less even my butstock was void of the rubber coating and parkerized the same shade of gray as the sight base is, so leads me to believe they had a period without rubber prior to the "official" deployment of the rifle to the military.
